I agree that the DMAIC process is helpful in enhancing the performance of businesses by

improving the efficiency of processes, mitigating wastes and problems that may arise. You also

made an interesting observation that one of the problems that may arise when implementing the

DMAIC processes is that employees may be preoccupied with other activities, which may make

the implementing team wonder who the right person they should consult is. For example, if the

workers that are involved in a given process are unavailable to define the problem, the root cause

of the problem may be unidentified that may make subsequent steps fail. I also agree that the

effect of DMAIC may be reduced due to employees' resistance to change. Therefore, it is

essential to communicate to all workers about the importance of the DMAIC process and inform

them how it would benefit the organization and possibly the workers that can motivate them to

embrace the change. Moreover, the organization should inform the workers that the frequent

measurements are not intended to punish employees who are involved in inefficient processes;

rather it is to diagnose problems that can be mitigated to improve their labor productivity and

quality.
