A wide range of application use includes: Process Line Control Pump Bearing Protection Pipeline Monitoring Oil Separators Pump Cavitation Alarm Control System Enable Signal Hydraulic Systems Flow Switch Features Rugged—Outside-the-pipe components are sturdily con- structed to withstand extremes. ‘Standard Sizing—Dimensions are standard so they are Known in advance. ..before you purchase or write specifications, Internal Switches—Large selection of contacts are economically and easily available. All Flow Switches are Rated—NEMA 7, hazardous loca- tion (Class 1, Group C & D). Optional NEMA 4X, weather- proof and selected ULL. listed/CS.A. approved (Class 1, Division 1, Group C & D) hazardous location flow switches are available. Low Pressure Drop—Cam operator minimizes flow restriction. Low flow rate set points optional. International Dependability—Woridwide representatives are backed by Oligear’s extensive engineering and ap- plication know-how. All recommended mounting styles that utilize a piping “'T” are available as prefabricated T-body assemblies. You can significantly reduce on-site field fabrication when you install the whole assembly into your pipeline. Threaded and flanged process connections are offered, When you properly compare costs, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the savings. Materials of Construction Materials of construction are: ‘Switch Enclosure (Cover)—Cast aluminum with corrosion resistant epoxy coating (stainless steo! optional). ‘Body—Carbon steel, 316 stainless steel, brass or MONEL. Note that the switch body is a wetted part Tim—316 stainless stool or MONEL. Trim parts include vane, target, hinge parts, plunger, plunger housing, magnet sheath, spring and plug, Contact the factory or your representative if any other ‘special materials are required. Switch Body Types and Sizes The following switch body codes refer to the major com- ponent which holds the mechanism and connects into the process line. Both flanged and threaded bodies are available, The process line piping is not included ‘Threaded Bodies Switches with 2”NPT bodies are stan- dard. However, for process line convenience, 172" and 3” NPT bodies are available, Flanged Bodies The standard body flange is the 2", AN- Si raised face flange in rating classes 150, 300, 600, 900, and 1500. In addition, 2%", 3" and 4” flanges are offered for process line convenience. Units with 2%" flanges are used as replacements for older controls by other manufacturers. See the selection chart (Pages 6 & 7) for the ANS! pressure classes available. Special flange ratings and types are available including RTJ flanges. Contact the factory or your local representative for any special or unusual requests, Enclosures Electrical enclosures are cast 356-6 aluminum with proper seals, threads, connections and coatings to render them waterproof, dustproof, vapor proof and explosion proof and corrosion resistant in accordance with the requirements of NEMA 4X and NEMA 7 Ciass I, Group C&D, Division 1 ‘Two configurations of enclosures are available: long and short. The short cover is the most commonly used. ‘Switches that require extra space inside the enclosure will Use the long cover; these include plugin time delay relays, latching relays, special terminal blocks and other electronic devices plus special switching arrangements. Both covers have 3-94” threads at the bottom. Conduit connection is thru the switch body so the covers can be removed without disconnecting wires. hon é Ut OFF CLEARANCE ae WITH SHORT COVER, EXTENSION Lenore t LET OFF CLEARANCE 7 Lona cover mae DNAILABLE) WITH LONG COVER Type FSV Flow Switches— Operating Principle ‘See diagram at right. As flow increases, the cam operator moves the tod upward until the rod magnet activates the switch. Magnetic action permits the use of static seals greatly reducing the possibility of fluid leaks. As the flow increases beyond the set point, the cam operator permits the vane to swing up, minimizing the restriction and pressure drop. Single pole, double throw switches are standard so that actuation on increase or decrease is possible. Set point adjustment is made by sliding the switch and switch bracket up or down on the plunger hous- ing, Further fine adjustments are made through varying the tension on the rod return spring by means of @ ‘screwdriver adjustment, Note that Type FSV switches are normally used for “flow” or "no flow" indications. Type FSV Flow Switches BL-Directional Control For horizontal applications, these flow ‘hitches can be used with ow in both ectons. {=H The standard single plunger unit wit actuate in one direction and allow full iow inthe opposite direction, ‘The optional dual plunges, dual switch nit il provide sepavale swith act tion in both directions, Photo of cubanay-suiteh Type FSP Flow Switches— Operating Principle Designed for “Low Flow" actuation, the flow switch body is much the same as a globe valve with the plunger restricting most ofthe reverse flow much like @ check valve. ‘As the flow increases the plunger rises and operates the ‘switch. Actuation is affected by both the spring tension on the plunger rod and the fit of the plunger into the valve body. This relationship is especially important for either high or very low flow rates where spring tension alone can- not produce adequate results. Actuation points can be fac- Lory set for 0.1 to 1.0 feet per second line velocity with field adjustability of + 0.2 fest per second. The switch body mounts directly in the process line with female N.PT. threaded or flanged connections. Type FSV & FSP Flow Switches— Selection Guide Use the selection chart on the following pages to make proper selection of all the elective features of your Oilgear flow switches, All vane type flow switches are designated FSV to distin- quish them from the plunger type. Vane type flow switches are selected when high flow rates, or low pressure drop is @ requirement, SWITCH BODY—The folowing switch body codes rater to 2 the major component which holds the mechanism and ‘Type FS Flow Switches ‘connects into the process line. Switch Contact Ratings: 10 Amp @ 125 VAC or 125 VDC 1/4 H.P. @ 125 VAC or 125 VDC Temperature Range: 85°F to 4180°F ‘The switches included on these two pages can be used ‘on almost all of the controls featured in this bulletin. Although only the SPST and the SPDT switches are men- tioned, DPDT switches are also readily available. Dry con- tact switches are used as standard on these flow switches. because of their versatility and the fact that they are not dependent on the mounting position for proper operation, Options ENERGIZING TIME DELAY (On-Delay)—IT1 to 174 (See Page 7). The delay period begins upon energization with these models. De- energizing the unit during the delay period immediately recycles the unit, readying it for another full delay period upon re-energization. DE-ENERGIZING TIME DELAY (Off Delay)—ITS to ITB (See Page 7). The switch transfers the load immediately tupon energization, and the delay period does not begin Until the unit is de-energized. At the end of the delay period, the switch returns to its original position. Fle- energizing the unit during the delay period immediately resets the timing, readying it for another full delay on de-energization Contact Ratings: 10.
