We
blew it bad this year. Big bluefin within sight of point loma tearing up the water. 200 plus pounds. We
were close to being in the middle of it all the day we got towed in. Check out the video I saved of what
was going on just a couple of miles from where we were. We didn't have the tackle or anything else for
that matter. I don't want to miss an opportunity like that ever again! I don't have alot of time left to fish
anyways. I'm 70 it's time to get serious or not do it at all. We need a workable, well thought plan. a list of
things that need done and a goal date to be done by. Below is the start of such a plan. :
GOAL; Have the boat ready to go anywhere anytime and return. A good compass, anchor,
emergency flares . If possible a small hand held vhs radio would be nice but not a
necessity. A small raft would also be a nice extra but not a necessity either.
fishing tackle from heavy to medium that can handle whatever we run into. . Good line,
assortment of hooks and jigs. Gaff , tail rope stuff like that.
Basically we have two projects to complete. #1 The BOAT and #2 the TACKLE. Simple enough.
BOAT: list what needs to be done. Repairs, installations, purchased or hooked up.
TACKLE : List what all we need to have and start shopping for it.
BOAT :
6. Life jackets
7. Tool kit, plug wrench, spare spark pugs, electrical tape, pliars. screw drivers, dikes, etc.
8. Dock lines
Tackle:
6. surface irons, colt snipers, poppers, knife , large deep diving rapalas ect..
7. gloves belt
8. clippers
