1. Why do we need to study ethics?

Answer:
Studying ethics is a vital process in order for us to be in the position of being rational
and having better judgment. Apart from that, it is very inevitable especially in dealing with
others and not just for personal benefits. It guides us to make a positive impact through our
decisions and actions. Ethics provides us standards of living which steers us away from unjust
outcomes as we think of the common good. It contributes immensely in making the best choices
which, in result, molds a better world.

2. How can you possibly help prevent or at least lessen the moral challenges faced by the world
because of globalization?

Answer:
Globalization challenges our values and standards of living that greatly affected our struggle for
peace and human development. With that being said, I will help prevent or lessen the moral challenges
faced by the world by

Read and critique the following situations. Decide whether the decision of the character is morally right
or wrong based on the frameworks of moral disposition.

1. A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still used while the other one is not
used anymore. Only one child is playing on the disused track, the rest are playing on the operational
track.
A train is approaching and John is the operator. He can make the train change its course to the disused
track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing on disused track
will be sacrificed. But at the end, John chose to sacrifice the innocent child on the disused track.

2. Adelle and Sarah are best friends. Sarah found out a shocking truth about Adelle. In a thorough
investigation, the facts and evidences proved that Adelle has a boyfriend. One day, with a suspicious
mind, Adelle’s mother asked Sarah if her daughter is having a relationship with a guy. If she tells the
truth, she will lost their friendship and Adelle will surely be scolded and punished by her mother. At the
end, Sarah chose to be honest and answered Adelle’s mother truthfully.

II. Compose a two-to-three-stanza poem about the Filipino Millennials. The message shall include the
appreciation of their contribution to the society and how they can be virtuous despite the moral
challenges they are facing.
