The time and number of staff required for the erection are things to be decided upon with due regard to, among other things, the volume of the delivery, time of delivery, and erection equipment available. Note. The new self-adjusting support necessitates a different procedure for casting than for the fixed support. ‘the supporting structure must be cast before mounting the other components. That is, bearing beams, tilting beams, bearings and supporting rollers must not be mounted before the concrete has a sufficient bearing capacity. The procedure is described in the relevant instructions for erection. All instructions for erection which specially deal with the new support, have a picture of the support on the front page. Sketch No. I shows an example of an erection programme (bar diagram) for a 2000 /24 h Folax kiln, erection of which would take about 12 months. The programme shows the number of staff, classified according to trade, which would be required per week during the entire erection work. Conditions may occur, of course, which will upset the pre-arranged programme, which will then have to be altered. Since the welding of the kiln tube cannot be done simultaneously with other work on the kiln proper, it must be carried out by the largest possible number vf welding operators in order to reduce the erection time as much as possible. This also applics when lining the kiln. The time required for the erection bears no direct relationship to the size of the kiln, but by way of example, we may state that the shortest erection time for a kiln about 100 m long is estimated at 3-4 months, normal erection time is 4-5 months. The programme for larger kilns may as 2 rule be based on an erection time of 8-12 months . It must be tacitly understood, of course, that the observance of the programme ar ranged before the start of the erection must in no way influence the quality of the workmanship, and normally the chief erector is fully responsible fur the erection being carried out in conformity with our instructions and drawings. Sketch No. II shows the same erection pro- gramme as the above bar diagram, only more detailed. Sketch 2B includes the data which are required if the customer wants to use network planning (Pert. diagram) for erec- ting the kiln department. Sketch No. III shows the same machines as dealt with in the two other sketches, and gives an example of the form which in some instances is sent to the chief erector. The chief erector is to fill in the forwarded form, stating the actual man days used and return it so as to obtain a more accurate basis for future erection programmes. =--000- 8021-03: 1802'-03-I1
