 Simple Past Tense


In Simple Past, the action is simply mentioned and understood to have taken place in the
past.The functions of the simple past tense are:

1. Declare an event that occurred in the past (not related to the present) with a common time
(general).
2. Show habits in the past.
3. Express a period of time in the past.
4. Shows a sequence of events that occurred in the past.
In Past Continuous, the action was ongoing till a certain time in the past. Past Perfect is used
to express something that happened before another action in the past. Then, Past Perfect
Continuous is used to express something that started in the past and continued until another time
in the past.

 Simple present tense


Simple present tense is a form of time used to express an action or activity that is taking
place or happening at the present time in a simple form or work that is done repeatedly, or daily
habits, or events or actions that have nothing to do with time. (Lado, 2008. Simple present tense
can be said to almost enter any type of scientific article, because it is close to an event or action
or a form of repetitive activity or daily habit

Simple present tense is a form of time used to express an action or activity that is taking
place or happening at the present time in a simple form. The present continuous tense is used to
express an activity that is taking place at the time of speaking. Present perfect tense is used to
express activities that have occurred in the past, are currently still happening, and may (still)
occur in the future (future). Present Perfect Continuous to express events that happened in the
past, are still happening now and may still happen in the future

 Simple Future Tense


Simple Future Tense is used to express events that (predicted) will occur in the future.
Future Continuous Tense or future progressive tense is a verb form used to express an action that
will be happening at a certain time in the future. Future Perfect expresses an action that will
occur in the future before another action in the future. Future Perfect Continuous is used to talk
about an on-going action before some point in the future.
