I am thrilled to be joining you and your classmates in recognizing Earth Month. As City Controller, a big
part of my job involves finding ways that the City of Los Angeles can do things better in order to meet the
needs of its many communities. The creative projects you sent me to accomplish a similar goal by
demonstrating how people can make simple changes to improve our environment and create a better
world for us all.

Preserving our environment is no small task, but I urge you to stick with it as a student and an adult. You
are the leaders of tomorrow and the future stewards of our Earth.
