Y: 14 10 17
Find the value of Mann-Whitney statistic.
(5) The signs of differences between the 10 pairs of observations are given
below. Test H0: M1 = M2. Use binomial distribution. Use 5% Level of
significance.

Q-2. (A) Explain difference between parametric and non-parametric test. 05

(B) An IQ test was given to a random sample of 15 male and 20 female
students of a University. Their scores are as follows: 08
Male: 56 66 62 81 75 78 83 68 48 70
60 77 86 44 72
Female: 63 77 65 71 74 60 76 61 67 72
64 55 89 45 53 68 73 50 81 65
Use median test to determine whether IQ of male and female students is
same in the University. (Use chisquire statistic).
OR
Q-2. (A) Explain Wilcoxon signed rank test. How is this test superior to ordinary 05
sign test?
(B) Random samples of 10 students each of from Boys and Girls, have their 08
monthly expenditure are as follows. Using Mann-Whitney test, test
whether two population have identical distribution.

Q-3. (A) What is transportation problem? Explain mathematical formulation
of the transportation problem. Also explain balanced and unbalanced
transportation problem. 06
(B) An advertising company wants to plan its advertising campaign for a new
product. The company can spend at the most Rs. 50 lakhs for this. The
new product can be useful to persons of middle age group. The company
wants to use radio and prime-time television for advertisement purpose.
The research department of the company has collected the following
information regarding the cost and the effect of an advertisement. 07
Mode of Cost per Unit The number of middle
advertisement (in rupees) age viewers influenced
by an advertisement
Radio 40,000 5,00,000
Television 2,00,000 10,00,000
The company wants to reach to the maximum number of viewers of
middle age group, and wishes to reach to at least 60 lakh persons through
television. The company does not want to spend more than 10 lakhs on
advertisement through radio. Using linear programming problem, decide
the number of times each media to be used for reaching to the maximum
number of desired viewers.
