A very astonishing and yet tragic event that Dabawenyo didn’t expect to happen.

On the 2 nd day
of September 2016, at Roxas Avenue night market Davao City, Southern Philippines, an explosive device
which we commonly called a bomb that exploded in the specific area in night market, causing at least 14
deaths and 70 injuries and any other market products casualties.

This advent or accident makes a history in Davao, wherein people used to enjoy their lives with
happiness through eating with friends, family, and their loved ones and share laughter’s all throughout
the entire time in that moment. It became a historical advent to Davao City which leave a mark or
trauma to all Dabawenyo not just in the city but any other far-flung provinces in the country. As a
Dabawenyo itself, I tend to implicate myself in different outdoor activities or in so many occasions, but
this historic accident that happened last time is very traumatic due to different sides of news, which is
I’ve seen as an accurate form of possibilities. Basically, based on the news report in different
broadcasting companies that the perpetrators are the Maute Group. The Maute Group, also known as
the Islamic State of Lanao, was a radical Islamist group led by Omar Maute, the alleged founder of a
Dawlah Islamiya, or Islamic state, based in Lanao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. It was made up of
former Moro Islamic Liberation Front guerrillas and foreign fighters. It became a controversy with
regards to the bombing, because of the possible reasons of the terrorist group for their bombing.
Furthermore, one of the reasons that the Maute Group bomb the night market in Davao City is because
of the ordered that President Duterte declared or passed that the Armed Forces of the Philippines had
given the authority and order to destroy Abu Sayyaf, after the bandit group beheaded an 18-year-old
boy on 22 August 2016, when the family of the victim failed to pay the ransom.

To sum up everything that has been stated so far, the bombing at Roxas Avenue night market
Davao City, Southern Philippines, became a history because of the advent which put many people’s life
into a danger zone, that abruptly distort the vision or perspective of all the Dabawenyo and enlightened
everyone’s mind to be more careful.
