ABSTRAK

Government policy on SDGs is mentioned on the third objective that is good health
(stopping AIDS). Free sex style is a deviant behavior that often struck adolescents that cause
HIV/AIDS. Based on preliminary observation in STIKES Mataram, there have been a lot of
students drop out, out of wedding pregnant, absent from lecture and those who dropout
without notice. Some committed dating and watching porn video, etc. based on preliminary
study, the number of first year students is 53, however, 3 of them were out without notice at
all. Baserd on the above discussion, it is interesting to investigate the correlation between
parenting style and adolescents’ attitude on free sex in STIKES Mataram. This research is
aimed at determining the correlation between parenting style and adolescents’ attitude on free
sex in STIKES Mataram.
The population of this research is all 50 first year student of STIKES Mataram. The
samples were 42 respondents selected thgrough accidental sampling. This research is
correlation descriptive study with cross-sectional approach. The data were collecte through
questionnaires and analyzed with spearman rank.
The research showed that there is significant correlation between parenting style and
adolescents’ attitude on free sex in STIKES Mataram as demoted by Spearman-Rank Test
showing p-value < α (0.006 < 0.05) so that Ha is accepted.
It is inferred parenting style affect the adolescents’ attitude on free sex behavior. The
factors affecting free sex style are personal experience, the influencing people in the life,
parents’ parenting style, culture, education religious institution, mass media and emotion. It is
suggested that parents apply good parenting in the development of children’ adolescent life.
