How to develop Safe Working Procedures

We must clearly documents and communicates Safe Working Procedures that outline how to do our work
safely

The Key things to remember when developing SWP includes;

 Engage people who do the works in the development of a SWP

 Identify the hazards and risks associated with the work
 Break the task down into simple steps
 Keep it simple
 Use picture where possible
 Use language that workforce understand
 Draw attention to the key safety controls and practices

 All people must be trained in SWP’s prior to undertaking a task for the first time
 SWP’s should be reviewed
 Refresher training should be conducted at regular intervals.
