1. What is the concept of Ngayah in Bali?


Answer:
Concept of Ngayah in Bali is based on a sense of mutual cooperation, besides that the values
given are religiosity, social piety, and culture in Balinese society. Ngayah in Bali must
remain sustainable because it is not only a social activity but also a command from religious
teachings.
2. Why is Ngayah tradition called as volunteerism tradition in Bali?
Because Ngayah teaches to help one another, Ngayah help and do good for the common good
with sincere. Ngayah gives meaning about helping each other regardless of the person's
background, teaches us about the meaning of brotherhood and togetherness.
3. How the Balinese do this tradition?
Answer:
Ngayah can be done every day and is very easy to do because Ngayah it's not just about
money but about also services, example every morning, they always chat with their neighbors
before doing daily activities to establish intimacy, and there are certain events, they together
make preparations so that the event runs well. So Ngayah make Balinese can still maintain
the spirit of sharing and doing good to others
4. What do you think about the existence of this tradition nowadays?
Answer:
This tradition gives a good impact in every environment. The impact that occurs is to provide
a great sense of tolerance, creating a community that helps each other by working together.
As an Indonesian citizen based on Pancasila, Ngayah gives a sense of brotherhood and
togetherness regardless of one's background.
5. Tell your Ngayah experience in a short paragraph (only 1 paragraph, consist of 5
sentences)
Answer:
My experience about Ngayah when I did Ngayah at a temple, when it was a school event to
commemorate the school's anniversary. One of the series of activities is Ngayah. I went with
my friends using the vehicle provided by the school. After arriving we started cleaning the
temple environment, starting from sweeping, cutting grass, and others. After working
together, we chatted with each other and then hurried home. An interesting experience,
because there can mingle with fellow peNgayah and interact with each other.
