Between stimulus and response is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our
response. In those choices lie our growth and our happiness. No matter what has happened, there is
a space between those events and our responses to them. if there is a fraction of a second between
stimulus and response, that space represents our power to choose our response to any situation.
How much of the size of this space is largely determined by your genetic/biological inheritance or by
your upbringing and present circumstances? Give an example of how you could develop your inner
power and freedom to enlarge your "freedom to choose" space. How can you help others develop
their inner power and freedom to enlarge their "freedom to choose" space?

ANSWER:

The first part of the space is covered by genetic composition and biological inheritance which
accounts to around 40% as per a study and the remaining is influenced by the upbringing of the
person which comes immediately after the genetic instinct.

Inner power and freedom to choose space can be enlarged through maturity and introspection. It
improves with patience and perseverance. This can be increased if a person tries to identify their
strengths and weaknesses and not let their weakness overpower them when a stimulus is
presented. Normally, a stimulus creates a negative reaction when it works against our will and brings
out our weaknesses in the most aggressive manner if not managed well. There has to be inner
control which comes with power.

The same can be done with someone else who needs improvement in managing this space and
handling it properly. This can be improved through meditation and self-discovery.
