1- Was reading a priority in the home where you grew up? If so, tell how reading was
emphasized? If not, describe what seemed to be the attitude towards reading in your home.
How did your family's attitude (positive or negative) about reading affect your development
as a reader?
Of course, reading was a priority, my mother is a teacher. Reading began at an early age with
stories and the Holy Bible. In the family it was always thought that a good student depended on
the knowledge acquired through reading. My development was positively and significantly
affected allowing me to move forward and expand my abilities and skills.
2- When you were growing up, what role did school play in encouraging or discouraging
you to read? Describe experiences in school that made you feel positive or negative about
reading.
The teachers at the school were excellent mentors in the area of reading, and in this way they
gave me a positive boost in literature and the works of illustrious writers from our country such
as Rubén Darío and Carlos Fonseca Amador.
3- What do you think that parents and schools could do to make reading a source of pleasure
for children? Suggest some specific ideas that would have worked for you as a child.
Parents and schools should:
1. Spend time with children.
2. Propose/recommend readings and let them choose.
3. Understand reading as a game.
4. Create reading spaces at home and establish some daily routines.
5. Take them to the library or bookstore where they come into contact with books.

4- Of the five suggestions that appear in the section in this chapter titled "How is become a
Regular Reader”, which one or two are the most appealing and realistic to you?
Of the most attractive for me, they would be: 1- Create a half-hour or hour of reading in your
daily agenda and as number two it would be: 2- Read books on your own.
Reading is a communication habit that allows to develop the cognitive and interactive thoughts
of any reader, reading allows to easily build new knowledge. Helps the development and
improvement of language. It improves oral and written expression and makes the language more
fluid.
