Call for singers

St. Christopher’s Anglican Church is offering four scholarships to singers who are passionate about
choral music. We are looking to train Choral Scholars in each section (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) who will
enhance our growing choir and will sing in weekly services and rehearsals.

About us:
Located in West Vancouver, St. Christopher’s is a vibrant parish with a large congregation and a rich
music program. Regular Sunday services contain a variety of chants, hymns, anthems, and other liturgical
music in English. We explore eclectic repertoire, ranging from Taizé chants, standard choral repertoire,
and contemporary worship music. Instrumentalists also join our choir in large seasonal celebrations. In
the past, we have engaged a brass quarter, a viola da gamba consort, as well as flute, trumpet, and harp
soloists. The music ministry is led by Dr. Konstantin Bozhinov, our organist, choirmaster, and music
director.

The positions:
Weekly rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7pm to 8.30pm. Sunday services are from 10am to
11.30am. Additional rehearsals and services will be required during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
We are offering scholarships to Choral Scholars in each section: soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Other voice
types are also welcome and will be considered. These are permanent, ten month positions. The choir
summer break is in July and August. There are no upper or lower age limits.

Expectations for prospective singers:

Choral Scholars are expected to attend weekly rehearsals and Sunday services, as well as additional
seasonal engagements. They will be leading the choir in four-part harmony in traditional Anglican psalm
chanting, as well as hymns and other liturgical music. Singers will have the opportunity to occasionally
sing solo, but this is a secondary requirement.
Auditions will be held by appointment.
