Ms. Domika is completing the final weeks of her internship ‘as. student teacher in a resource room position, Prior to the resource room, she also ‘completed her student teaching responsiblties in a second grade general education classroom, at Three Fires Elementary. | have had the opportunity to work closely with Ms. Domak for the entirety of the 2021-2022 school year. ‘After Ms. Domaka was introduced to the students she would be working with in the resource room, she immediately started making connections with all of the students. IMs. Domka has done an excellent job creating relationships with the students and making them feel positive and safe while working with her. Ms. Domka was attentive to the systems in place and participated in observations and note taking to increase her skills, right away. She is extremely responsible and dependable. When asked to complete tasks for lesson planning, ‘communicating to colleagues or creating social stories for students, for example, she did not waiver. Ms. Domka completes all tasks asked of her and in a timely manner. She is diligent with her data collection and receptive to constructive feedback. She applies new knowledge leamed, ‘which makes each time servicing students stronger and stronger with explicit teaching. Ms. ‘Domka has been trained in explicit teaching for all core academic subjects and functional behavior. She has experience with Orton Gillingham as a method of teaching phonemic awareness and phonics skils. Ms. Domka gives her time to the school and community. She has ‘attended several choir concerts after school hours, serves on the School Improvement Team ‘and is currently coaching Girls on the Run. Ms. Domka is always willing to try new things, even in a difficult situation. She does not shy ‘away from "hard" or “challenging”. For example, expectations for her required coursework included teaching a reading comprehension and written expression strategy to a group of students. Ms. Domka did not stop there. She went above and beyond using a strategy known as POWER, which included other responsibilities for her to complete with the students such as planning, nonfiction text features, organizing information, editing and revising. Additionally, Ms. Domka has learned how to use behavior scripts and implements such scripts as an engagement script, on a daily basis. She follows through her teaching practices with fidelity. | can highly recommend Ms, Anna Domka as a candidate for a special education teaching position. Any school would be very lucky to have her.
