Coaching Philosophy

My purpose is to inspire my athletes to have a positive growth mindset by encouraging

them to discover their motivation for the sport and in their own lives. Having a growth mindset

will allow my athletes to achieve excellence.

When coaching and playing I value learning lessons and winning. I believe that these are

two very important values. There is always a lesson to learn; Winning is key because not only

does it feel great, but it is motivating.

My coaching style is fair and blunt. I am always honest and fair with my athletes.

Creating a welcoming positive environment with open communication is a priority for me. I

enjoy getting to know my athletes and understanding them. Every athlete is different and that’s

what I love. There is so much diversity. My relationship with opponents, staff, and community is

positive, respectful, and reserved.

The NYS athletic Framework talks about having a positive impact on athletes and

building character and that’s what I truly believe in. Winning is important but teaching good

character, ethics, values, and building healthy relationships is even more important. Sports teach

respect, accountability, leadership, discipline and resilience and that’s what I want my athletes to

strive for. Teaching these characteristics allow athletes to apply them to their own lives to be

good civilians and achieve excellence on and off the field.
