Vietnamese to English:
Sweden now imports trash because it is too clean
The recycling system in Sweden is too revolutionary up to
the point it has to import garbage from neighboring countries to
sustain its recycling plants.
Less than one percent of household waste in Sweden has
been sent to landfill since 2011. To keep the recycling process
going/ active, it now resorts to garbage from outside its border
including England.
Sweden was among the pioneers in relaying heavy tax/ levy
on fossil fuels, which began in/ since 1991. Now, nearly half of
the nation’s electricity network stems from recycled energy.
According to Anna-Carin Gripwall, Head of Media/ Media
Director of Avfall Sverige – the Association of Recycle, Swedish
Trash Processing Department, “The Swedish are one with/
would love to live in harmony with nature. Thus, they truly care
about the environmental problems as well as their natural
surroundings. We would do propaganda/ run marketing
campaigns in a long period of time/ on a long-term basis so that

the mass would not only stop littering but also recycle and reuse
trash.”
Sweden adopts a unified recycling policy nationwide,
allowing even private companies to participate and observe a
large portion/ the majority of the importing and burning process.
The newly formed energy shall be utilized in heating systems to
save households across the country from freezing winters.
The trash importing policy, however, is only temporary. To
further elaborate, Mrs. Gripwall adds “Members within EU are
banned from erecting landfills. Therefore, instead of paying fine
to gain access to one, they would just simply redirect all the
garbage to our nation, much like that of a service. They should,
in the long run, build their own recycling plants just like ours.”
