Write 10 sentence per each questions.

1. As a producer of travel products, why not just sell your services directly to the consumer?

As a producer of travel products, selling my services directly to the consumers would be tiresome.
Selling the travel products directly to the consumers would be inefficient. It would be hard to make a
single product to a single seller individually. If starting out in producing travel products then it would be
fine. For the long term of producing products, it would be rather convenient if there were more people
to be helping. What is mean in this sentence is that having workers helping in producing and selling
services will help with the business. Speaking of long term, it would be easier if having a middle man to
help sort out your products. Having a middle man to help sell the product would make the business
more efficient, which means an example would be Shopee or Lazada as a middle man. Middle man helps
the producers by which in delivering the product to the consumer. This makes things easier as a
producer since the producer would only need to safely package the item and let the middleman deliver
it for them.

2. As the president of a newly formed tour company, you must now decide if your tours are to be
marketed through retail travel agencies or whether you should try to sell them directly to the consumer.
Identify the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative. Would it be wise to do both? Discuss.

As the president of a newly formed tour company, it would be best to have a retail travel agency and
also by selling directly to the consumers. The advantage of selling directly to the consumer is based on It
being affordable, an example to this would be leaflets and as such even email marketing. Another
advantage would be giving a detailed advertisement towards the consumers that you’re selling the
product to. A Disadvantage to directly selling the product would be related to one of the advantages
such as email marketing that it would lead to other users to putting the email in the junk or won’t be
reading it. Another disadvantage would be that direct marketing would be annoying to consumers.
Retail Travel Agency is an important travel intermediary which would be beneficiary towards the tour
company. The Advantage of have a retail travel agency is that they would be the one that act as a sales
outlet for the suppliers. Although having a retail travel agency would be good, they have their own
disadvantage such as charging each commission in every sale. Having multiple retail agency would be
good for the company then just having one. Looking at all the advantage and disadvantage for direct
selling and having a retail agency, if the company is just starting up it would be better to have a retail
travel agency instead.
3. A professor recently walked into a travel agency—his first visit there—and asked for a specific cruise
brochure. The travel agent rose from her desk, found the promotional piece requested, and handed it to
him without even looking and smiling. The professor thanked her and then asked, "Do you have any
promos for a family vacation in Palawan?" She replied, "Yes." She then sat down, looked into her CRS
screen, and said, "Have a nice day." As a tourism student, do you think that the scenario was
appropriate? If yes, why? If not, what should the conversation have been?

For other tourism students it would be okay, but for me it looked rude in that situation. Welcoming a
person into the travel agency place is a must. Welcoming a customer will make the customer feel
welcome, first impressions always hit differently. Asking for what the professor’s needs would also help
with making the room be brighter. First impressions would make it look like so that the customers can
understand if you are someone that can be approached. “Welcome sir, how may I help you?” Is the first
greetings that should’ve been conducted. By this time the professor should be asking for a specific cruise
brochure which the travel agent should be providing with a sentence along the lines of “Yes sir, please
wait a moment”, by saying this it would show do the professor that you are an approachable and
friendly person. The professor asks for “Promos for a family vacation in Palawan.” Being friendly with
the customer it would be better to reply with “Yes, we have different promos for a family vacation” at
this point the customer would be deeming this as a reliable travel agency. The only part where the travel
agent did properly was “Have a nice day.” And that’s the only thing that was good for the scenario.
Being on good terms with the customer would help a ton in getting a good reputation for the travel
agency, would help the travel agency in having more opportunities with that one good term from the
professor.
