Bangladesh became the second largest garment exporter in the world, second only to china.

Between 2006 and 2010, the minimum wage in the garment sector had increased by 33%,
which was considered as a major positive economic phenomenon. Although, Bangladesh
garment workers are frequently underpaid and overworked. In Bangladesh, 4 million people
work in 4,825 corporate factories, producing 75% of the country’s export revenue. However, the
majority of these workers earn only 3,000 taka per month, significantly less than the Bangladesh
living wage of 5,000 taka. In addition to income disparities, Bangladesh garment workers face
dreadful working conditions, with many days ending at 3 a.m. after a 7: 30 a.m. start.
Bangladesh is currently experiencing severe flooding as a result of climate change. Many
workers are also suffering the loss of their houses and their capacity to wok due to the lack of
government disaster mitigation plans. Organization are pressuring corporations accountable for
violating the human rights of Bangladesh garment workers to pay a livable wage, ensure safe
working conditions, and provide unemployment benefits. It is critical to assist garments workers
right now.
