Jagriti

Nestle in partnership with MAMTA (Mamta health institute for mother and child), an NGO,
launched project Jagriti.

The main aim & purpose of this campaign is to

 Improve nutrition & health at various life stages- adolescence to care-givers

 Create awareness regarding benefits of breastfeeding
 Encourage good nutrition & hygiene practices
 Create awareness regarding family planning, gender equality norms, sexual &
reproductive health.

More than one-third of worlds malnourished children resides in India. It is still a huge problem
for lower class and it directly impacts the future of a child and also India. This project makes
strategies to minimize the effect of malnutrition by creating an enabling environment especially
for women, targeting sensitization towards institutional deliveries, post-natal care, awareness
on family planning.

The initiative uses small dedicated team of workers that conducted door to door surveys to
create awareness. The workers act as facilitators to group representatives of various
communities which in turn educate their community.

The project started in year 2014 from Delhi and then it was gradually scaled up high priority
districts across UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha.

Program outcome – Till 2019, the project Jagriti already impacted 5 million lives in 8 states &
UTs of India.

This CSR project is a brilliant example of how a world class company can take center stage &
launch projects which mitigate risks such as malnutrition in developing economies like India.

This project is a clear example of international marketing research conducted by Nestle in India
and identifying issues pertaining to nutrition. The project in turn gives visibility to the brand and
creates a positive image.
