How does Reverb effect sound?

Reverb occurs when a sound hits any hard surface and reflects back to the listener
at varying times and amplitudes to create a complex echo, which carries information
about that physical space. Reverb pedals or effects simulate or exaggerate natural
reverberations.

Why does my mix sound thin?

In fact, thin mixes usually come from a poor arrangement. But sometimes they can
come from a poor use of EQ, too. When you prevent and address thinness in your
track, you can produce a mix that's more powerful and impactful. You never want an
important chorus to sound thin – the music will lose it's impact.

What is too much reverb?

Too much reverb drowns out your mix and makes everything sound “floaty” (for a
lack of a better term). Scale back on the reverb. Use it to make your tracks stand
out, but don't make the reverb be the thing that stands out. ... You want
the reverb to draw attention to the vocal, not itself.

Which is better echo or reverb?

Reverberation is the persistence of sound after the sound source has been
stopped. It results from a large number of reflected waves which can be perceived by
the brain as a continuous sound. On the other hand, an echo occurs when a pulse of
sound can be heard twice.

Which is better reverb or delay?

Delay and reverb sound quite different. There is no "better" - they just do different
things. ... A good delay may allow mixing of reverb effect, but normally they are two
separate effects that you can add in your effects loop.

What is the difference between reverb delay and echo in sound effects?
Delay is one or more distinct sound images. ... Stand in a huge room and yell
"hello." The very first sound you hear reflected off the walls is an echo.
That echo quickly turns into reverb as the sound is reflected off a second, third, and
fourth surface. Think of delay as a single copy of the sound at a later time.

What causes reverb?

A reverberation, or reverb, is created when a sound or signal is
reflected causing numerous reflections to build up and then decay as the sound is
absorbed by the surfaces of objects in the space – which could include furniture,
people, and air.

What is the difference between reverb and sustain?

In the real world, the sustain is how long a string rings (measured in seconds), the
delay is how fast it echoes off the wall (milliseconds & total number of echoes), and
the reverb is how long the sound hangs in the room till it decays (seconds) after the
thing that induced it has faded (or been muted).

What comes first delay or reverb?

Reverb generally goes right before your delay, towards the end of your signal chain
as well. Some will place it behind their delay pedal, but it doesn't really matter all that
much, as both work together to create ambience and textural space

Is delay same as reverb?

So how are these two different, and how are they the same? Technically, reverb (as
well as chorus and flangers) is a delay effect. It's a time-based repeating effect that
emulates soundwaves bouncing around a room. Delay is also time-based.

Why does echo happen?

This phenomenon is called an echo, which has its origins in the Greek ekho,
meaning “sound.” An echo happens when a sound wave reflects off a surface, such
as the water at the bottom of a well, and the sound is repeated back to you. .

Is reverb the same as Echo?

Here's a quick explanation: An echo is a single reflection of a soundwave off a
distance surface. Reverberation is the reflection of sound waves created by the
superposition of such echoes.

Does reverb make you sound better?

The reverb kind of evens out the voice and makes it sound more melodious. In
essence, it actually kind of shows the full potential of your voice if you have done
everything "perfectly." This is why karaoke machines have a lot of vocal reverb! But
don't lose faith.
