“‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, ‘Supplication and prayers are suspended
between Heaven and Earth. No part of them ascend to Allah until prayers are sent upon the
Prophet ‫ﷺ‬.’ [Sunan al-Tirmidhi]

“It was also narrated that supplications are veiled until the supplicant sends prayers upon the
Prophet ‫ﷺ‬. Ibn Mas’ud said, ‘Whenever one of you wants to ask Allah for something, let him begin by
praising and extolling Him as He deserves, then let him send prayers upon the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬, then let him
ask, for this (way) is more worthy and better suited for a reward.'”

‫الّٰلُهَّم يا ُهللا يا ُمِج يُب َصِّل َعلى َعْبِدَك َو َحِبْيِبَك َسِّيِدنا ُمَحَّم ٍد الَّنِبِّي الُمِج يب َو َعلى آِلِه َو َص ْح ِبِه َو َسِّلْم َتْسِلْيمًا َو ُكْن ِلُدعاِئنا ِبِه ُم جيبًا َو اْج َعْلِني ِلِنداِئَك َو ِنَداِئِه‬
‫
ُم َلِّبيًا ُم ْس َتِج يبًا‬

There are three levels of sending salutations to the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬

1) Gaining the shafa’ah of the Prophet by sending salawat 10 times in the day & 10 times in the
night. The Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said,

Whoever says salutation upon me 10 times in the morning & 10 times in the night, therefore he is
obliged to be given my intercession in Yawm al Qiyama. [Imām al Tabaranī]
2) Sending salawat 200 times in a day (100 in the morning, 100 in the night). Allah will grant our hajat, 70
in this Dunya & 30 in the Akhira. This is what related by Imām Abū Mūsā al Madinī with a hasan sanad.
Imām Dāruqutnī related differently by saying sending salawat 100 times, Allah will grant 100 hajat in
Dunya & Akhira. But the bottom line is that by sending lots of salawat, Allah will grant one’s wishes in
Dunya & Akhira.

3) If you want to have the vision of our Master salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam & be amongst the sālihīn,
send salawat not less than 500 times. Shaytan would whisper that 500 is too much. But in reality, it’s an
easy thing to do. After every fard salat, say

a) [verse 33:56] “Inna Allaha wa mala`ikatahu yu saloon ala anNabi, ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo
AAalayhi wasallimoo taslimā.”,

b) “Muhammad” 3 times & then

c) “Allahumma salli ‘alayh” 100 times.

At least do it for 40 days with istiqama (consistency) to gain his vision.

A woman came to Sayyidina Hassan Al-Basri (rahimahu Llah) and said,

“My daughter passed away and now I wish to see her in my dream.”

Sayyidina Hassan (rahimahu Llah) told her,

“Offer four rakat Nafl after Isha and in each rakaat recite Surah At-Takasur (102). Then go to sleep while
reciting Salawaat upon RasulAllah ‫ ﷺ‬until you fall asleep.”

The woman did so and narrated the dream to Sayyidina Hassan (rahimahu Llah) the next day. She said,

“I saw her in a bad state. She was wearing dirty robes. Her hands were tied and there were chains of fire around
her feet.”

Sayyidina Hassan (rahimahu Llah) asked her to give sadqa and hope that her daughter’s affliction gets
lessened. The following night Sayyidina Hassan (rahimahu Llah) himself saw a dream wherein he was
in Jannah and there was a beautiful young girl on a throne dressed in magnificent clothes. She told him
that she was the daughter of the woman who had visited him. Sayyidina Hassan (rahimahu Llah) told
her,

“But your mother told me that she saw you in a bad state.”

The girl said,

“Indeed what she said was true. We were 70,000 souls who were afflicted with the torture of the grave until a
pious person passed by us. He recited Salawat upon RasulAllah ‫ ﷺ‬dedicated it’s sawaab to us. And Allah
accepted it in such a manner that we were freed from our tribulations and what you see now is due to barakah
of that Durood Shareef.”

O Allah! Bestow blessings upon our master Muhammad, the opener of what was closed, the seal of what
had preceded, the helper of the Truth with the Truth, and the guide to Your straight path, and upon his
Family, as is truly merited by his greatness and magnificent rank—as much as fills what is known, and

by the number of what is known, and by the weight of what is known; a tremendous blessing in stature
and magnificence.

I ask you, O Allah, by its secret, and by the secret of its secret, and by the secret of the one upon whom
You sent your blessings with it, and by the secret of those who send blessings with it, from the time its
secret manifested till the Abode of Permanence, that You bestow blessings and salutations upon the one
You have ennobled by it, and by whom You ennobled it; the secret of its existence, the treasure-store of
its bounty and magnanimity, by the secret of the overflowing secret, whose secret is in every secret of
our master and patron Muhammad. [And bestow this] upon his Family, Companions, lovers, and
followers.

I ask You, O Allah, that You grant me rewards by this benediction, for the good works of the night and
day have passed me by. Accept from me what You have granted me enabling grace to perform of
prayers, obligations, supererogatory acts, litanies, and remembrances, and bestow upon me the secret of
its secret as You have bestowed upon the possessors of multifarious secrets who are the “the ever patient,
the veracious, the devout, the spenders of charity, and those who seek forgiveness in the early hours”—by Your
pure largesse and generosity, O Clement, O Coverer of Faults! Amin!

Light of Lights that is Your Essential Self and no other; a prayer by which You unveil for me the mystical
reality of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad, as he truly is with You; a prayer by which You unravel
for me the conditioned-ness [quyud] of Your Names and Attributes, and through them give me drink
from the lights of all of Your Beautiful Names; a prayer by which You gather for me [in my account] the
worship of all of Your creation, at every breath and moment; a prayer by which You purify my heart
with the secret of divine self-disclosure [bi sirr al-tajalli]; and a prayer by which you bestow upon me the
Supreme Sainthood, the Most Exalted Wisdom, the Most Dazzling Light, the Loftiest Secret, and cause
me to arrive unto gnosis of You through the inner path; and draw me to You with an absolute magnetic
drawing, till my heart contains no sense of anything besides You, and till I have no longing or desire for
anything except Your goodness. And surround me with the protective gates of Your Divine Concern, O
Allah, O Guardian, O Protector! Amin!

For Allāh sūbhanahu wa ta’ala’s Favours Gratitude For His Countless Blessings

And If We Express Gratitude For His Blessings He Will Increase Them Further.  Water, Air, Light,
Hearing, Sight, Heart, Health, Youth And Well Being Are All Blessings Of Allāh sūbhanahu wa
ta’ala. Then Reflect Upon The Necessity To Express Gratitude For The Arrival And Prophethood Of The
Personification Of Mercy, The Greatest Guide And The Benefactor Of The Universe ‫ﷺ‬

This is an English translation of  Darūd al-Tāj, 

O Allah, send blessings and Peace upon our Master and Patron Muhammad,

The Owner of the Crown and the Ascent and the Buraq and the Standard,

The Repeller of Affliction and Disease and Drought and Illness and Pain.

His name is written on high, served and engraved in the Tablet and the Pen,

The Leader of All, Arabs and non-Arabs,

Whose body is sanctified, fragrant, and pure,

Illumined in the House and the Haram,

The Sun of Brightness, the Full Moon in Darkness,

The Foremost One in the Highest Fields, the Light of Guidance,

The Cave of Refuge for Mortals, the Lamp That Dispels the Night,

The Best-Natured One, The Intercessor of Nations,

The Owner of Munificence and Generosity.

Allah is his Protector, Gabriel is his servant.

The Buraq is his mount, the Ascent is his voyage,

The Lote-Tree of the Furthermost Boundary is his station,

Two Bow-Lengths or Nearer is his desire,

His desire is his goal, and he has found his goal,

The Master of the Messengers, the Seal of the Prophets,

The intercessor of sinners, the friend of the strangers,

The Mercy for the Worlds,

The rest of those who burn with love, the goal of those who yearn,

The sun of knowers, the lamp of travellers,

The light of Those Brought Near,

The friend of the poor and destitute,

The master of Humans and Jinn,

The Prophet of the Two Sanctuaries,

The Imam of the Two Qiblas,

Our Means in the Two Abodes,

The Owner of Qaba Qawsayn,

The Beloved of the Lord of the Two Easts and the Two Wests,

The grandfather of al-Hasan and al-Husayn,

Our patron and the patron of Humans and Jinn:

Abu al-Qasim MUHAMMAD Son of `Abd Allah,

A light from the light of Allah.

O you who yearn for the light of his beauty,

Send blessings and utmost greetings of peace
