My Story of Faith

This  is  how  it  all  began.  My journey to Jesus Christ is like any other stories of faith. An imperfect one 

but  the  result  turned  out  to  be  a  beautiful  masterpiece  crafted  by  God  himself.  ​(This story I’m about to 
tell is a continuous one described by the important key titles at the start of every paragraph)

Before I knew Christ 

  When  I  was  younger,  I  was  bullied  a  lot  for  my  incompetence  unlike  my  siblings  who  were  all 
achievers  in  the  family.  I  remembered  being  ashamed  of  who  I  am  and  spent  all  my  time  just  crying 
alone  inside  the  girl’s  bathroom  after  being  called  names.  Despite  my  happy  childhood,  that 
experience  of  mine  was  the most painful memory I had. As a result, I built up my courage to be better. 
Wanting  to  make  my  parents  proud,  I  did  all  that  I  could  to  be  a  student  achiever  in  junior  high. 
Maybe  it  was  because  I  longed  for  satisfaction  from  other  people  why  I  became  like that. True to my 
promise,  I  spent  my  high  school  being  known  for  all  of  my  achievements.  Hundreds  of  medals, 
certificates  from  various  Quiz  Bees,  and  unending praises from people were the causes of my boastful 
heart.  What  seems  to  be  a  success  story,  actually  turned  out  to  be  disastrous  episodes  of 
conceitedness.  I  began  to  have  a  series  of  wars  with  my  brother.  Disrespecting  and  belittling  him 
became my thing. After all that I’ve achieved, I thought I'd be happy but I’m not. 

 
 
 

Truths Revealed 

  One  day, my sister who is a Christian, included us in her Bible study. Ever since, I already have a 
thought  that  there’s  Jesus  Christ  but  I  haven’t  done  anything  about  my  faith.  Then,  she  asked  me 
“What  is  the  best  decision  you’ve  made in your life?” and suddenly, all dawned on me that the decision I 
made  in  the  past  I  thought  was  best  turns  out  to  be  the  worst.  She  opened  her  Bible  and  began  to 
enumerate  all  God’s  truths.  The  ​1st  truth  is  God  loves  me  and  desires  that  I'll  have  an  eternal  life 
with him. (​John 3:16​) I thought “Then, I do not need to please somebody all this time, because I have a 
God  who  loves  me  even  at  my  worst.”.  The  ​2nd  Truth  is  the  sin of man is what separates him from 
God.  (​Romans  3:23;6:23​)  All  this  time,  I  was  blinded  by  my  sins  that  I  started  to  walk  in  the  wrong 
path. And the ​3rd Truth is Jesus Christ is God’s only way to eternal life. (​John 14:6;Ephesians 2:8-9) 

The Best Decision 

  After  the  Bible study, my world turned upside down by the revelations from the Bible. Then, I’ve 
realized  that  I’m  a  sinner  and  that  is  what  makes  me far from God but He loves me and gave His only 
Son  to  save  me  from  my  sins.  I  cried  at  that  very  moment.  I  had a conviction that from now on, I will 
put  my  faith  in  Jesus  Christ.  He  is  the  only  way  for  me  to  be  saved.  That  is  what  God  wants  me  to 
know  all  along.  So,  I  started  to  follow  Him  and  became  officially  a  Christian.  By God’s grace, My life 
was  completely  changed  overnight.  I’ve  reconciled  with  my  brother,  learned  to  be  humble,  and 
changed  my  attitude  for  the  better.  I  don’t  need  to  change  anymore  for  others’  preferences  because 
I’m  now  accepted  in the eyes of God and that is more than enough. Another blessing is that I’m now a 
member  of  a  small  discipling  group  in  my  church.  My  heart  is  truly  happy  knowing God brought me 
to  the  right  path  and  finally  I  found  my  purpose.  That  made  me  who  I  am  now.  The  old  anxious and 
self-conceited  girl  in  the  past  is  truly  gone.  She  is  now  a  student  achiever  and  a  follower  of  Jesus 
Christ. I can now say that this is the best decision I’ve made in my life. 

Do you Believe? 

  ​If  you  were  asked  this  kind  of  question,  it  seems  easy  to  say  yes  if  you  are  a  believer  of  God. 
Maybe  others  are now saying, “​It is just a simple question, why make it hard​?” but little do they know that 
this  simple  question  requires  a  deeper  conviction  of  Faith.  Let  me  tell  you  an  example.  During  the 
days  of  Quarantine,  It  was  really  tough  I  admit.  My  siblings  and  I  got  persecuted  and  questioned  by 
our  own  parents  about  our  conversion  from  Catholic  to  Christianity.  We  cried  not  knowing  what  to 
do.  We  want  to  remain  in our conviction and faith but at the same time, we love our parents and don’t 
want to fight with them as much as possible.  

  Then,  we  started  to  pray.  As  we  stumbled  upon  our  Bible,  we  encountered  God’s  word  saying 
“​Dear  children,  let  us  not  love  with  words  or  speech  but  with  actions  and  in  truth.​”  (​1  John  3:18​).  We 
learned  that  God  wants  us  to  act  on  our  faith.  That  merely  believing  is  not  enough  because  ​Faith 
without  action  is  dead.  ​It  is  easy  to  say  that  we  believe,  but  taking  action  requires  an effort and this 
truly  tests the depth of our faith. Therefore, as God wanted us to do, We acted on our faith and did His 
commandment  to  honour  our  parents.  We  respected  them  and  forgave  them  but  still  hold  on  to  our 
faith.  By  God’s  grace,  we  are  now  reconciled  with  our  parents  and  as a family, God put acceptance in 
our  hearts  to  continue  walking  with  Him  despite  trials  in  life.  This is the revelation of God in my life 
that  made  me  learn  lessons  about  the  true  meaning  of  believing and making the best decision in life. 
This  is  my  encounter  with  God.  A  journey  of  faith  perfected  by  the  one  and  only.  To  God  be  the 
Glory!!!
