C. Steven
1. Read about Steven.

Steven is a sophomore in High School and suffers from depression. He does not have any
cognitive deficiencies. He sometimes misses school and as a result, has difficulty
completing his homework and classwork. Steven has qualified for a 504 plan and is
therefore entitled to accommodations and modifications. What accommodations and
modifications would you suggest be implemented to help him complete his class and
homework?

Keep in mind….though his work is obviously affected by his depression, Steven doesn't
have any reported cognitive disabilities so it's a delicate balancing act in terms of
providing effective and appropriate modifications while at the same time not lowering
the rigor since he is cognitively capable.

Please also be sure to review the information on the Module Overview page regarding
“extra time.”
