Some = Affirmative sentences => plural and non-count nouns


 There are some people in the main square.
 There is some water on the floor.
 There are some coins in my pocket.
 There’s some money in my wallet.

Any = Negative and Questions => plural and non-count nouns


 There aren’t any people in the main square.
 There isn’t any ice in the fridge.
 There aren’t any cars in the parking lot.
 Are there any books on the table? Yes, there are.
 Is there any sugar in the cupboard? No, there isn’t.
A lot of = Affirmative => plural and non-count nouns (more than some)
 There are a lot of people in the main square.
 There is a lot of water on the floor.
 There are a lot of electronic announcements
 There is a lot of traffic on the road.
 There are a lot of car accidents in the country.
 There is a lot of crime and there are robberies in the country.

Many = Negative and Questions => plural nouns


 There aren’t many people in the main square.
 There aren’t many libraries in Moquegua.
 There aren’t many farm animals in Ilo.
 There are not many shopping centers in Moquegua.

Much = Negative and Questions => non-count nouns


 There isn’t much water in the jar.
 There isn’t much smog in Moquegua.
 There isn’t much violence in Moquegua.

Several = plural nouns (express diversity)


 There are several ice cream flavors
 There are several kinds of restaurants in Arequipa.

 A FEW = Affirmative (some – countable) positive meaning
