ABSTRACT

Red chili plants are plants that are easy to grow in Indonesia and have a fairly high selling value. Chili
plant growth is influenced by biotic and abiotic components. Biotic and abiotic components are factors
from nature which are natural components in the balance and sustainability of life on earth. The
influence of environmental conditions, as well as biotic and abiotic factors that occur can affect plant
growth. This practicum aims to determine the effect of biotic and abiotic components in plant growth
and to find out how the competition between plants in one polybag is. This practicum requires several
tools, including polybags, buckets, shovels, measuring cups, soil, organic fertilizer, chili seeds, and
water.        In this experiment the plants were given three treatments. In the first treatment the plants
were placed in the open, in the second treatment the plants were placed in the shade, and in the third
treatment the plants were placed in a greenhouse. From the practical observation data that has been
carried out, plants treated in greenhouses grow faster than those treated in the shade and in open
spaces. Plants in one polybag also have different heights and different number of leaves on each
plant. From this practicum, it can be concluded that the biotic and abiotic components greatly affect the
rate of plant growth. The competition between plants in one polybag is also seen in this experiment.
