ABSTRACT

Red chili plants are easy to grow in Indonesia and have enough high selling value. Chili plants grow
influenced by biotic and abiotic components. Biotic and abiotic components are factors from nature that
are natural components in the balance and sustainability of life on earth. The influence of environmental
conditions, as well biotic and abiotic factors that occur, can affect plant growth. This practicum aims to
determine the effect of biotic and abiotic components in plant growth and to find out how the
competition between plants in one polybag is. This practicum requires several tools, including polybags,
buckets, shovels, measuring cups, soil, organic fertilizer, chili seeds, and water. This experiment carried
out three treatments on plants. Plants wost placed in an open space in the first treatment. Plants wost
placed in the shade in the second treatment, third treatment plants wost placed in a greenhouse. From
the observation of data, the results obtained, plants treated in greenhouses grow faster than those
treated in the shade and open spaces. Plants in one polybag also have different heights and different
numbers of leaves on each plant. From this practicum, the conclusion is that the biotic and abiotic
components affect the speed of plant growth. The competition between plants in one polybag was also
visible in this experiment.
