Decaying of Carbon 14
Decaying of Carbon 14
As the carbon – 14 decays with half life of 570 years, this makes the carbon – 14 become smaller as
compared to carbon- 12. By measuring the residual radioactivity of materials like wood, linen, or
charcoal that contain carbon, the age of their archaeological remains is estimated between 1000 to
50000 years.
