NATURE OF THE BUSINESS

• It is the manufacturing industry.

• It is the non – government industry.

• This industry produces the cotton seed oil.

• Cotton is both a food and fibre crop.

• In this industrys environment is good.

• In this production industry , the production and planning department will set standard and

targets for each section of the production proces

• The quantity and quality of products coming off a production line will be closely

monitored. In businesses focusing on lean production, quality will be monitored by all

employees at every stage of production, rather than at the end as is the case for

businesses using a quality control approach.

• The purchasing department will be responsible for providing the materials, components

computerized stock control systems helps keep stocks at a minimal but necessary level

for production to continue unhindered.

Cottonseed Oil Production Process

Generalyspeaking , cotton seed iol processing mainly including the flowing production process,

they are seed cleaning, cracking, flaking, cooking, expelling and refining.

Cleaning: Getting rid of organic impurity (stems and leaves, hull, rope, etc.), inorganic

impurity (dust, silt, pebbles and metals), oiliness impurity(grain of insects, grain of faultiness,

VEERAPPA NISTY ENGG COLLEGE, SHORAPUR Page 15

LAXMINARAYANCOTTON PVT LTD

heterogeneity seeds, etc.). In this section we use Magnetic Separator, Vibrating Sieve, destoner,

decorticator (Cotton seeds used hammering decorticator). Through cleaning the impurity, you

can reduce the lost of oil & improve the oil yield and the environment of production plant. The

material has been produced after pretreatment contains the impurities ≤ 0.1%.

Cracking: Adopting the toothed cracking roller to make the cotton seeds kernel into a right

uniform pcs which can keep a moderate block size for squeezing out the oil.

Flaking: To make cracked Cotton seeds kernel pcs into uniform smaller flakes with thickness

≤ 0.5mm, less powder, non-oil spilled, pinching softly by hand and the ratio of smaller powder

than 1mm sieve mesh is ≤ 10% - -15%.

Cooking: The process is to add the steam into the crushed/flaked seeds pcs, then to dry the

seeds for getting rid off more water content. In this process, changing the protein of seeds with

the water and temperature to make the oil moleculeo loose for pressing easily to get crude oil

also get the better cake and oil. We adopt vertical stack cooker with five layers to cook flakes.

Loading full in the 1-2 layers, played the purpose of steaming flakes, and then the temperature

reached 95 – 100 degrees, In 3-5 layers should loaded to shallow, controlled about 40% which

could get rid of water from flakes. The pressure of jacket steam is ≤ 0.6MPa. The temperature

and water rate of flakes after cooking is:Water Content: 12–14 %; Temperature: 95–100

degrees; Requiring Time: 60mins.

Expelling: Matching the modern style oil expelling press machines to get more oil, or you can

use solvent after pre-pressing by oil expellers to get more oil. Solvent extraction is the

commonly used commercial technique to recover oil from oilseeds.

VEERAPPA NISTY ENGG COLLEGE, SHORAPUR Page 16

LAXMINARAYANCOTTON PVT LTD

Refining: In the crude oil contains residue and solid powder, so we have to remove them before

packing or refining. The residue & solid powder is separated through automatic oildreg

separator. After separating, we can get two products, one is crude oil with impurity of 1%

which will be refined or filtered further by Filtered Press; the other is residue with oil which is

conveyed back into Screw Press to repress to get rest oil. Read books, audiobooks, and more.

Benefits of cotton seed oil

• While many of us use the cotton seed oil in our day-to-day lives little do we know about

LEARNING EXPERIENCE
It is the great experience for me for the entire four weeks in the SHAMSHUDDIN AND

HAMEEDUDDIN cotton ginning factory .The practical experience gained by me during my

organisation study in a lot. It is a entirely different from the theroy what one learn in the class

room. The situations read and explained theoretically and fully different when it comes into the

practical.the practical situations are broad in nature and they are entirely different from one

situation to another. On the first day when i reported to the organisation ,the

management alloted a project guide to help me in the course of organisational study. My project

guide gave brief description about garment industry, and cotton seed is an organization under

the seeds industry. Then he further expained about the company in brief like number of

department and their respective heads.

Within the period of one month itself I felt cotton seed is considering its

employees as an assets of the company’s growth. As the employees are provided with

transportation facility, creches etc, it becomes a motivating factor to employees to work

better.

There is a reivision of salary every month based on the employees performance.

It motives the employees to perform well in their work, but says the target to be achieved is

high and it lead to increase in the attrition rate. Cotton seeds organizes family day, celebrates

festivals in the employees concern. I felt all these measures are the part of the motivating the

employees.

In cotton seed industry the operators are highly skilled and talented but education

background is SSLC and PU level.

In general, I felt that SHAMSHUDDIN AND HAMEEDUDDIN cotton ginning

factory provid a homely atmosphere to the employees those who are working. When the

employees are being treated as resources of the organisation, the employees will be dedicated

to work and sincere to the organisation.I didn’t find any barrier of communication between the

supervisors and employees with doubts and problems. The employees are bieng provided with

full support. The secret of the SHAMSHUDDIN AND HAMEEDUDDIN cotton seeds

enterprise is efficiency, delegation of responsibilities and effective supervision. The

commitment to complete any work taken up by any persons with sincerity and honesty is an

importent factor to succeed in life.
