Hi Jeremy,

I received your letter this morning and am very glad to hear that you have been discharged from hospital.
I am sorry that you had to miss participating in the State Drama Competition. Thank you for the
congratulatory wish. We are all indeed proud and happy to have won the state level competition after 5
years. It was a long wait and this time we did it.

Two interesting things happened during the competition. Firstly, as you know I was supposed to play the
role of Hang Tuah and one of the scenes was a fight with Hang Jebat. We were using real kerises.
Although we had practiced many times using the same kerises and nothing untoward had happened,
during the competition Razak who played Hang Jebat accidentally slashed my face with his keris and I
started to bleed. The audience panicked and exclaimed with concern. However, we did not stop but
continued acting till the end. Later, I was given some first aid treatment as the cut was not serious.

Another interesting incident also happened on stage. The main character in the drama put up by students
from SMK Putrajaya was supposed to cry over the dead body of her lover. While she was crying out aloud
over the dead body, she suddenly burst out laughing. I think she must have been amused by her own
loud crying and sobbing that she couldn’t control herself and started laughing. The audience found the
situation both awkward and hilarious. SMK Putrajaya clinched 3 rd place after SMK Vivekananda.

I must tell you about the challenges we faced during the competition. Sri Ram who played the role of the
Sultan suddenly forgot his lines. The scene was in an assembly of his ministers in the palace. Fortunately,
Lucy who played his consort and remembered his lines managed to whisper and prompt him with the
lines and he picked up from there and continued his address to the assembly.

Towards the end of our drama the sound system failed. Thank God it was a scene with only one character
where the Sultan was supposed to be talking to himself. Our Sri Ram did a splendid job despite the sound
system failing. You know that Sri Ram has a loud voice. This time he did not stumble or panic. He just had
to raise his voice a little and the whole hall heard him. There was something in his voice and the last few
lines that the entire audience went wild clapping in appreciation. Overall, we did face some minor issues
but managed to do well and win.

On our way back in the bus, Mr Guan Eng, our coach did mention your name and say that you are a good
actor and the play would have been really great with you in the cast. He did mention that since you are
still in Lower 6 this year he will certainly include you in the drama competition next year. So, have no
worries s you will certainly be in the team next year. I am sure you will have fun and enjoy the practices as
well as the performance.

See you in school soon.
