Introduction
Narrative poster for Lu Xun 3

Narrative posters are ubiquitous in life, but creating such a poster requires

professional use of design software and specific skills to integrate stories. In this

poster I am to introduce Lu Xun and the books he wrote. It will be useful to explain

here who LuXun is and why he is a significant figure in Chinese Literarature. I hope

those interested in Chinese literature can learn about Lu Xun's story. In this poster,

Iwant to convey who Lu Xun, was by including imagery from his books he wrote and

his background story, the application of typography in this poster and Chinese old

poster styles.

In the words of Ji Wei (2014), “Mao Zedong called Lu Xun "a great writer,

thinker, and revolutionary". He even called him "the first-class saint of China"

alongside Confucius at the commemoration ceremony for Lu Xun's death.”Such an

author who boldly criticized China's old society is also viral among modern Chinese

young people in the 21st century. In making his storytelling posters, blending his

message with the book he has written is the best way to resonate with literature lovers.

Why the research was done?

Typography is the foundation of making an eye-catching poster, but the most

complex step. It improves the visual attractiveness of your content while also

protecting its aesthetic value. Sets the tone for the remainder of your website and

gives a pleasant user experience. In making this narrative poster about a person’s story

is to ensure the 'person' is the key to this poster. One graphic element that I can utilize

to bring more attention to an image of Le Xun is to utilize the use of positive and

negative space. Lee,D.H (2004) pointed out that “A positive space is always

emphasized by the corresponding negative space, thus, the more negative space

present the more the emphasis is placed on the positive space.” As a result, to

emphasize the person in the poster, you need to highlight him with vital negative

space, and used for this project, it could be a cutout of a portrait in e form to appear in

the poster. “size does not necessarily matter, but a balance between positive and

negative space must be achieved.” (Lee,D.H, 2004)

When it comes to old Chinese traditional posters, many people may think of

Chinese public health posters design, but in this research, I chose to integrate classic

Chinese posters and modern Chinese designs into my posters. In this researcher,

people will have the chance to pursue their interests while also learning something

new and honing their problem-solving skills. Being professional and managing one's

time are only two examples of life skills that may be taugt by this.

It is becoming more popular in Chinese architectural and design circles to use the

term "postmodernism." The Beijing International Exhibit Center, the world's first of

its type, is a large facility that hosts international exhibitions. When it comes to

Chinese design, the word "postmodern" is being thrown about a lot these days,

whether it's in the context of graphic design, product design, interior design, or art,

among other things. One cannot comprehend China's modernization initiatives unless

one has a deep awareness of design history and contemporary trends.

The development of Chinese postmodernism is still very much a showcase event,

and it would be premature to classify it as a school or movement at this point. Lu

Xun's wood-block prints were featured in a range of periodicals and media in China

and across the world, including the New York Times. Lu Xun's meticulous selection

and presentation of woodcut pictures, as well as his encouragement of students to

experiment with various printing procedures and themes, resulted in the creation of a

socially conscious art form that symbolised China's modernity. In order to reach the

Chinese public with these modern prints, books and magazines, as well as Lu Xun's

personal network of students, friends, and colleagues both inside and outside of

China, played a critical role in the process.

Conclusion

Lu was interested in a wide range of disciplines, not simply literature. He was

influential in both promoting non-Chinese art and reviving interest in Chinese art. He

introduced like-minded young Chinese artists to the techniques and socially

significant subject matter of European woodcut artists such as Frans Masereel and

Käthe Kollwitz. As a result, the Communist Party's propaganda posters would have a

large influence. Lu Xun maintained his independence from both the Communist Party

and the Nationalists for the most part (Guomindang).
