WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT ABOUT PEOPLE

A descriptive text is a text is a text that describes someone, something, or place. The purpose of descriptive
texts is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.
The generic structure of the text is:
a. Identification
It identifies a person, thing, or place to described
b. Description
It describes a person, thing, or place in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics.
The language features of descriptive texts are:
a. Using adjectives
b. Using simple present tense
To describe someone’s character or personality we should support the description with examples.
Example:
Fina is very shy. She finds it difficult to make new friends.
You can also describe someone’s personality through their habits by:
a. Telling to the way he/she speaks
Example: He speaks in a soft voice as if he were whispering.
b. Describing the gestures
Example: She constantly uses her hands when she speaks.
c. Mentioning a particular habit they have
Example: He always bites his nails when he is nervous.

do. She collects stamps too and we exchange them with one another. We like to discuss our school
works and help each other with them. I am fortunate that I have Julia as my friend. She is friendly
and ever willing to help others in difficulty. She is a good friend.
