“I think the allure of D.J. is that underneath the muscles—which are all, by the way,
spray-on muscles, I found out when we were shooting—he is incredibly vulnerable.”
—RYAN REYNOLDS
Johnson stresses the latter. “I think these days there could be a tendency for people
to think that things come easy,” he says. “It does not. No, it’s actually quite the opposite.
You know, I stay up at night, putting in the work, but also really deeply contemplating the
next move, and the multiple moves, and the impact and effect that this one thing will have.”
He also, sooner or later, always relates his drive ever forward back to those formative
experiences in his youth. “If you’ve ever been hungry,” he says, “then you’ll never be full.”
Other collaborators think of Johnson far more fondly. Ryan Reynolds, who costars in
Red Notice, has known him for 20 years. (By odd coincidence, he hitched a ride on the same
plane with us back from Cancún in 2002.) “The thing that sets him apart,” Reynolds says, “is
obviously he’s kind of superhuman in stature and looks and charisma and all those things,
but he has an innate ability to always laugh at himself. And that, in and of itself, is a
superpower, you know? I mean, that opens the door, you know, spiritually, emotionally, and
literally. I think that’s always been in his arsenal, and that’s always been the thing that I
think really allows people in.” He offers a further observation: “I think sort of the allure of
D.J. is that to a certain extent he wears his heart on his sleeve, and there is, underneath the
muscles—which are all, by the way, spray-on muscles, I found out when we were shooting—
he is incredibly vulnerable.”
How does Dwayne Johnson motivate me?
Dwayne Johnson is known to be a great speaker and there are many videos and
articles that prove this. I once saw a You tube video made by the vanity fair in which
Johnson was asked questions about his identity, fitness and work. I have found the video
very interesting, because the camera was rolling towards Johnson on a set of railings and
the questions got more and more personal as it got closer to him. There was a question that
really moved and that was: “What does it mean for you to be a man?”.
He then thought about it for a couple of seconds and proceeded to answer the
question and it really surprised me what he said: ”To be a man I believe it means to be
accountable and stand up to the mistakes you have made, to be vulnerable, I have been
there we have all been there. The benefit of usually doing something like that is progress
and the quality of being a man is of doing what you are saying you are going to do and
taking matters in your own hands.”
Another question that really got me interested in Johnson was; “What is the best
thing about being famous?” He answered the following and it really made me smile: ”Hands
down, without a shadow of doubt, the best thing about being famous is making people
happy.”
I saw “The Greatest Showman” movie and the ending credits presented a very
similar quote by P.T. Barnum:” The noblest art is of making others happy”.
These quotes very much made me realise that even though sometimes it might
bbackfire, being nice to people and making them smile is one of the greatest traits a man
can have.
Record breaking year
He produced and starred in two hit films, "Jungle Cruise" and "Red Notice,"debuted
his biographical sitcom "Young Rock," saw unprecedented sales growth with his Teremana
tequila, and became the most followed American man on Instagram with 285 million
followers.
At 49, with grit, charisma and determination to "deliver the goods," Johnson has
segued from professional wrestler to movie star, major entrepreneur and someone nearly
half of America would like to see as the next president of the United States, according to
one poll. "I worked hard, had some luck on my side and was able to accomplish a few things
in 2021.
When Dwayne was asked about his truly successful year 0f 2021 he answered the
following:
“A few highlights that come to mind, one would be completing two massive Seven
Bucks Productions films, 'Red Notice' and 'Black Adam.' (Set for release in 2022.) Both
presented a lot of challenges during Covid, but like so many businesses out there, we adjust,
get clarity, create our new Covid strategy and get to work.
Seven Bucks also just completed -- two weeks ago -- our second season of NBC's
'Young Rock.' I'm quite proud of everyone's efforts and talents to get the job done and
deliver quality. And the other businesses in my portfolio have shown tremendous growth
and moved along nicely in 2021 -- Teremana Tequila, ZOA Energy, Project Rock and XFL. As
for anything I would've done differently in 2021, sure, I would've listened to my gut when it
was telling me to slow down a bit. Enjoy these moments even more with your family and
friends, because at the end of the day these joyful moments are the s*** that really matters
in life. Sorry to cuss but that's the truth. Good lesson to always listen to that voice in your
gut."
He also shared his thoughts on streaming platforms:
"I say this with great clarity, we are in a tremendous time in our Hollywood industry
as we are in the eye of a massive opportunity to listen and learn what our audience and our
consumers want and just as important, how they want it. I believe strongly in our theatrical
business and want us to continue to work hard to maintain that theatrical experience for
our consumers. When a movie is done right, man it's pure magic in the theaters. And I also
feel strongly that it's our job as creators, producers and deliverers of entertainment to
always take care of and go to the people. I try and approach streaming platforms versus
theatrical with an entrepreneurial spirit and vision. “
Tequila business
Dwayne Johnson started his own tequila brand named Teremana Tequila. It turned
out to be a huge success.
The motto of the company: “At Teremana we have a simple goal; to create a high
quality, responsibly sourced tequila that brings people together. One that starts
conversations, creates laughter, and moments to appreciate those along with us on this
journey of life.”
Dwayne Johnson’s views are the following on his tequila business:
"Tequila mogul was not part of the initial strategy, but I'll sure take it. Our numbers
were disclosed earlier this week and our Teremana growth is truly unprecedented.
Our sales have exceeded over 600,000 nine-liter cases and in our spirits industry,
that's an all-time record for first year sales. For context, George Clooney sold his Casamigos
tequila brand to Diageo for $1 billion dollars and they were selling approximately 170,000
cases.
Teremana is currently selling over 600,000 cases. So you can extrapolate the math
and valuation, astounding growth and I think it reflects our 'highest in quality and best in
taste' mantra. I'm happy but not satisfied with what we've been able to accomplish with
Teremana tequila thus far. The work is just beginning.
My goal for 2022 and beyond is to make Teremana a true international tequila
brand. We have the organization and international distribution expertise with our Mast-
Jäegermeister partners, our Teremana team and just as important, we have the ambition
and work ethic. "
Interesting facts about Dwayne Johnson
Few people have had as rock-solid of a career in so many realms as Dwayne “The
Rock” Johnson. In the wrestling world, he was dubbed "The Great One" and "The People’s
Champion" and in the film world, his movies have brought in at least $10 billion worldwide.
On top of that, his 2000 autobiography The Rock Says… was No. 1 on The New York
Times bestseller list and his Project Rock sneaker with Under Armour sold out in less than 24
hours. All of this has helped him top Forbes’ list of highest-paid actors two years in a row,
with an estimate of $87.5 million in 2020.
Before he was branded with the tough guy persona and fittingly strong wrestling
name of “The Rock,” Johnson had a very different kind nickname growing up. When he was
about six months old, he was with his godparents and his mom asked if his diaper was wet.
His godmother responded, “No. He’s just a little dewy,” he recalled at the Television Critics
Association virtual conference in 2021.
While he was too young to know better at the time, the moniker stuck. “For years,
when my parents would come around in front of my girlfriends or friends or anyone, [they’d
say], ‘Hey, Dewey!’ automatically,” he added. “It's not like that’s a powerful name.
Automatically, people were like, ‘Oh, God.’”
He wanted to become a CIA agent
Johnson had his eyes on becoming a real-life crime-buster, hoping to work for the
Central Intelligence .
Conclusion
In conclusion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a phenomenal actor, business man and
idol.
His life did not start very smoothly and at 21 years old it almost ended. He however
did not choose the easier way and started grinding. His decisions made him the person who
he is today, although he is not perfect he tries to teach and share everything that he has
learned through the years as a man and a dad.
As a teenager I can say that his stubbornness, listening to his gut and charismatic
figure definitely motivates me to become a better person, do not let my circumstances have
a too big of an impact on me and while researching him I have found that he is proof the
consistency and not giving up is the key to success.
Through the years he had shown that failure is a part of success and the only way to
grow and make some progress is by going forward.
When he turned down his former boss’s job offer he was listening to his gut feeling
and probably it was one of the best decisions he has ever made his entire life, this shows
that choosing always the easier route might not mean that you end up at the same
destination.
One of Johnson’s best quotes were said when he gave a motivation speech to the
Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. He was standing on a podium and at one point he put
his hand on the wall. He said that he loves when there is nothing behind him only the wall,
because it is nowhere else to go but forward.
I believe that all of his speeches, movies and lessons have made a big impact on
many peoples lives and I will always respect the gratefulness in him.
