INFORMAL ECONOMY

We find this article interesting because it not only brings new knowledge to us about informal
economics but also shows values to informal workers, who do not receive society welfare because their
jobs don’t bring tax revenue for the government.

Three main takeaways from the article:

1. The significant number of informal workers in India.

2. The Indian government established e-Shram, a Web Portal to provide a single platform for all
labor compliances, to facilitate delivery of social security and welfare schemes of the
governments to the workers of informal or unorganised sector.
3. A huge number of informal workers registered on the e-Shram portal.

Informal economy is a status quo and an economic issue in the world and the government of each
nation is still solving this issue. Via this article, we can see a practical solution that can help not only
improve the citizen life but also improve national econimics.
