At a local level, when I was an undergraduate student, I was a leader student. In my career
there wasn’t a leader student and my classmates and I won elections of career and
university students’ government. Critics became in action. We organized a lot of political
and cultural activities. But I think that participation is a process which depends on
different people. Moreover, there is huge inequity in access to politics because richer
people participate more and poorer people participate less which is a global problem.
political participation is determined by multiple factors that change over time. For
example, today there aren’t leader students or there are a few groups who don’t have
power, influence, or collective projects; due to the fact that, they are too radicalized so
they tend to exclude potential participants.
At national level, ex leader students from university of Chile and university of catholic,
which are elite universities, are now authorities who have a lot of possibilities to become
official parliamentarians in the next government.
