Who was involved?
People Involved

Francis Bacon- English statesman who advocated for the Scientific Method (describe facts, classify your facts,
investigation). This method led to the creation of gunpowder, the nautical compass, and the printing press.
Isaac Newton- Contributed to the Scientific Revolution by discovering gravity, co-developing calculus, and
developing the three laws of motion.
Nicolaus Copernicus- Mathematician and astronomer who proposed the theory that the Earth revolves around
the sun rather than the sun revolving around the Earth.
Giovanni Alfonso Borelli- Physiologist, physicist, and mathematician who helped develop the modern ideas of
scientific investigation and hypothesis testing.

3.
Why is the Scientific Revolution
important to know about?
Importance

- Created thousands of new inventions

- Led to a greater understanding of the universe and the
planets in our solar system
- Created the Scientific Method which revolutionized the way
people thought
- Introduced the ideas of creating and testing a hypothesis
- Led to the creation of new types of math and scientific laws
- Led to the Enlightenment Revolution
- Transformed the way people viewed society and nature
- Expanded the jobs people could participate in
- Led to a more technologically advanced society in the future

4.
What was the desired outcome and
the real outcome?
Expectation vs Reality

-There wasn’t necessarily an expected outcome of this revolution. In reality,

a variety of scientists, mathematicians, and physicists began making
discoveries and spiraling off each others ideas to make new discoveries.
ADV TONS -This revolution was occurring because people wanted to figure out WHY
ANC OF
EME and how the world works, rather than believe that God created everything
NTS! and that the world is just the way it should be. Ignorance drove the Scientific
Revolution.
-In reality the Scientific Revolution led to advances in mathematics, biology,
astronomy, physics, and many other fields of science.
