Sponsored and Aided Primary Teachers Training Institutes (PTT!) are running under the control of Directorate of Schoo! Education, West Bengal. The State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT, WB) plays pivotal role in teachers training in the State. The academic and administrative affairs of similar type of training institutions, i.e. the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) are looked after and managed by the State Council of Education Research and Training. As such, in order to streamline the administration and smooth functioning of both the DIETs and aforesaid PTTIs, it is felt expedient to monitor both academic and administrative responsibilities through a single nodal agency. In the circumstances the State Government is pleased to delegate both the academic and administrative responsibilities of the Govt., Govt. Sponsored and Aided Primary Teachers Institutes to the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT, WB) with immediate effect, in line with similar responsibility for DIET delegated to them. The Directorate of School Education will continue with its co-ordinating role and extend assistance as done for DIETs in the State. The West Bengal Board of Primary Education will continue to play its role as done till now for DIETs/ PTTIs in the State.
