APRIL 1993 - SEPTEMBER 1996 COMPANY : NRMA INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT PTY LTD POSITION : MONEY MARKETS & FIXED INTEREST DEALER Responsibilities: Monitoring and managing daily cash flows for the NRMA Group of companies. This totalled 17 entities with a combined annual turnover in excess of $250 billion. The portfolios were actively traded using the following ten instruments to generate profitability: Negotiable Certificates of Deposits (NCDs), Bank Bills, Ilam Cash, Spot and Forward Currency Transactions, Floating Rate Notes, Forwards, Swaps, Domestic Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Stock Lending. Related Achievements: Established the Stock Lending portfolio for NRMA Insurance Ltd. This involved designing a new module within Hiportfolio to enable trading to occur. Trading commenced within 3 months, this was in fact ahead of schedule. The portfolio tumover was up to $500 million on a daily basis generating profits in the order of $5 million annually. Initiated a NRMA Corporate wide cash flow reporting system that required each subsidiary to provide forecasted cash requirements on a monthly basis This initiative required extensive financial education of all the impacted Subsidiary Financial Managers. The result of this initiative was a cost saving (in transaction fees) and in management time. Automated the exposure limits process through designing a new report in Hiportfolio that was populated with data direct from the system, decreasing the manual work load in the limits process. Limits were then identified intra-day. No breeches in limits occurred after implementation of this initiative. Input all transactions into Hiportfolio. Testing, evaluating and monitoring new computer systems. Related Achievements: Tested and evaluated the new modules in Hiportfolio prior to “go live. This identified that the Dealers should input the trades (and not Settlements) reducing the cycle time of the process. Settlements were then able to verify and cross check the Dealers work identifying any aberrations immediately. Improved the manual general ledger process through systematically identifying the necessary data that should be loaded into the information system. All data was entered into Hiportfolio over a 4 month period.
