Outsourcing the design work helped the leading furniture manufacturer from US to decrease the cost by 50% and
achieve 100% in-time delivery

Client: An industry leader in manufacturing custom furniture for malls, shopping center, corporate offices, etc.

Requirement: The client required to partner with someone with deep domain knowledge and industry expertise to handle
their furniture projects end-to-end and deliver the result with 100% quality.

Challenges:
The manufacturer required us to handle the end-to-end solution for their projects
100% quality deliverables required as all the manufacturing data was directly going to the shop floor
The lead time for the project was very less and the manufacturer was too strict about their schedules.

Software used: Autodesk Inventor

Solution & Approach:


• The manufacturer partnered with SCS to address the major issues such as designing, engineering and design validation.
AS SCS has their own in-house team of modellers, drafters and engineers we soon took up the opportunity and in now
time were started with the project.
• Quality : SCS was able to achieve the milestone of 100% quality mark as per the requirement of client and were able to
deliver the documents with 100% accuracy.

Conversion of Kitchen furniture design from Hand drawn sketch to Production ready drawings using 2020 Design

Client: World class bespoke kitchen furniture solutions manufacturing client from USA

Requirement: The client required a preferable vendor who is capable of converting their hand drawn sketches in to
production ready drawings using 2020 Design software

Challenges:
The manufacturer has the preference in a niche software i.e. 2020 Design
100% quality deliverables required as all the manufacturing data was directly going to the shop floor
The inputs of the hand drawn sketches are not easy to interpret

Software used: 2020 Design

Solution & Approach:


• SCS took up the challenge of learning the new niche software, and in no time adopted to the working standards
of the client. SCS was able to recreate the models and their drawings in 2020 Design with the same quality and
in same lead time as the in-house design team of the client.

able to deliver the documents with 100% accuracy.

Developing the CAD data and patent documents for a pipe cutting machine manufacturer

Client: Pipe cutting machine manufacturer from Europe

Requirement: The client had developed a holder for the pipe cutting machine which he wanted to get patented and
for that he wanted to develop the detailed CAD drawings for the fixture and reverse engineered drawings for complete
machine

Challenges:
• As the machine being at client’s location in Europe was inaccessible to our designers
• We were not in a position to make any mistakes as it will turn up in to rejection in getting patent

Software used: SolidWorks 2019

Solution & Approach:


• Our designers visited the site at client’s office in Europe and collected data for preparing the CAD model of the
machine in SolidWorks. We created overall hand drawn sketches from measuring the machine and documented
them. The fixture which needed utmost attention was brought to our HQ, where we measured all the dimensions
required to design the fixture in SolidWorks.
• Quality : The client was successfully awarded the patent for the design
• Cost Effectivity : By partenering with SCS client were able to cut down their design cost by 50% in the complete
project.

Developing an design team for a cabinet manufacturer based out of London capable of working on WoodWork for
Inventor

Client: Cabinet manufacturer from UK

Requirement: The client wanted to develop an off shore design team of 20 engineers in India capable of Woking on
WoodWork for Inventor

Challenges:
• The manufacturer has the preference in a niche software i.e. WoodWork for Inventor
• 100% quality deliverables required as all the manufacturing data was directly going to the shop floor
• The lead time was too short to employ, train and deploy resources

Software used: WoodWork for Inventor

Client: Plastic parts manufacturer from Central Europe region

Requirement: Prepare the design and manufacturing documents for a concept based plastic shredding machine

Challenges:
• As the design is an concept based design the inputs are not clear and had to make many assumptions
• 100% quality deliverables required as all the manufacturing data was directly going to the shop floor
• The knowledge of manufacturing requirements at client’s location was a must

Software used: SolidWorks 2021

• As SCS already had the resources with experience in plastic industry in place we were able to take up the project and
in no time were able to understand the requirements of client and deliver the output to them.

Designing a Kiosk machine to be placed at a metro station for map navigation

Client: Vending machine manufacturer from Australia

Requirement: Designing the Kiosk machine that has to be placed at a Metro station in Melbourne for people to navigate
through the route of metro trains.

Challenges:
• As the design is an concept based design the inputs are not clear and had to make many assumptions
• Aesthetics had to be taken at utmost attention as it is an important part of Kiosk designing
• Profound knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing industry was a must

Software used: SolidWorks 2021

Solution & Approach:


• The design team at SCS started collecting the data for the standard parts that needs to be used in the machine. We
created a library for all the bought-out items which can also be used for any future design of Kiosks. As we had the
limitation of the dimensions of the kiosks had to consult many local vendors to identify the perfect fit for the
internal design of the kiosk. Once the internal parts were decided the outer structure was created taking into
consideration the aesthetic of the machine and some proposals for the designs were made to the client for them to
select from that.
• Quality: We were able to create a vending machine with the required functionality while maintaining 99% first time
right.
• UI/UX: The UI/UX was developed in such a manner that it would be easy to all the general public to navigate through
the route of the trains and train timings.

CAD/CAM support to Electrical Control panel Box manufacturer

Client: Electrical Control panel Box manufacturer from Middle East

Requirement: Providing end-to-end CAD/CAM support for manufacturing the control panel box using TruPunch and
TruBend

Challenges:
• The manufacturer required us to design the control panel box in SolidWorks and setting up the machining details in
TRUMPF
• Setting up the details in TRUMPF was a major challenge as we had not the access to the machine floor
• Profound knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing industry was a must

Software used: SolidWorks 2021/TRUMPF

Solution & Approach:


• SCS has in-house expertise in working with TRUMPF software. We started with preparing the design for the electrical
control panel box in SolidWorks taking in to consideration all the sheet metal design rules. We had to identify and
apply the required tolerances to the drawings for ensuring smoother assembling process. Once the design was
competed in SolidWorks we started up the Computer-aided manufacturing processes. We firstly prepared the
relevant flat patterns documents for the sheets to be used. The nesting for the parts was done according to the
standard sheet sizes available at client’s location. After nesting the program prepared in TRUMPF was loaded into
the TruPunch machine to cut the sheet metal parts. After shearing we had to prepare the program for TruBend to
bend the parts into required profiles.
• Quality: We were able to create the Electrical Control panel Box with the required functionality while maintaining
99% first time right.
• CAM: We were able to work with the program provided by client and have a guided manufacturing from our off
shore design centre
• Cost Effectivity: By partnering with SCS client were able to cut down their design and development cost by 50%

Design, engineer and manufacturing support to Open Air Steel Structure Manufacturer

Client: Open Air Steel Structure Manufacturer from Australia

Requirement: Providing end-to-end Design, engineering and manufacturing support to Open Air Steel Structure
Manufacturer

Challenges:
• The manufacturer had newly entered into the Open Air Steel Structure manufacturing and was not much aware
about the weldment design and validations.
• Profound knowledge of weldment manufacturing industry was a prerequisite.

Software used: SolidWorks 2021

Solution & Approach:


• Our design team has deep domain knowledge in weldment manufacturing industry so we were able to take up the
challenge of developing the design capabilities for the client and share our manufacturing knowledge to the client.
Firstly, we designed the structure in to SolidWorks that was also encompassing the welding and connection details in
them. Once the structure was approved in terms of aesthetics and dimensions we took the design to validation using
Steady State Structural Analysis in ANSYS. Once the design was validated by our design validation team we prepared
the fabrication drawings with other manufacturing documents.
• Quality: The drawings were prepared with 100% first time right quality mark along with proper technical knowledge
transfer to the client.
• Turnaround Time: SCS prepared the design and manufacturing drawings as per the schedule of client.

and applying boundary condition

Requirement: Calculate Pressure Drop across the duct using CFD simulation approach

Challenges:
• Defining geometry from the actual site duct. Creating snappy hexa mesh in
Openfoam. Measuring the actual readings for pressure across the duct geometry and
model it in CFD. Further, change the design and model the improved results. Challenges
also included getting the modified duct manufactured and results validated through
actual readings.

Software used: OpenFOAM, , Paraview

Output :
A summarized report including images for CFD results(Pressure, Velocity, Streamlines)
Report also included remarks and recommendation for design change (radii) to reduce
pressure loss across the points.
