“The art of communication is the language of leadership”

-James Humes

According to James Humes, “The art of communication is the language of

leadership”, in my statement for this inspirational quote, a vital skill to being a
successful leader, efficient communication. It’s not what you’re doing now or how
you’re doing it. It is more than just information sharing. It is about knowing the
intentions behind the information and being able to express a message clearly that
makes the other person feel, hear and understand.

Being a leader means having convincing power of negotiating and

influencing individuals mind and heart. This quality can only be achieved through
the art of communication. The art of communication is the language of leadership
because through communication conflicts among countries, families and friends
will be controlled and eradicated. To be a leader, we have got to do things on our
own first. Develop ourselves and build confidence through action, learning,
practice, and mastery, as well as being mindful. But being a leader, it has been that
communication is one field that is often overlooked in the creation of leadership
and yet has far-reaching consequences within the organization to become more
collaborative, innovative, and creative, leading to greater productivity and
profitability. So through communication peace and unity can possibly be attained
and it brings a prosperous and harmonious country.
I am grateful to be part of this family as a student at Western Mindanao State
University (WMSU), where are I can learn more, be encourage and conquer my
fears that I had to deal with in my life. It is difficult for me to talk in front of the
class since I was young or placing myself in several programs that include a large
number of people. This made life rather difficult for me but maybe life is more
difficult if I would not go out in my comfort zone and fight my fear or social
anxiety. And I have this short line that inspires me to step up, to grow as a leader at
some point in the future, “Great leaders communicate and great communicators
lead”.
