INTRODUCTION
Building or doing alterations to your home is sometimes not the best experience you
can have. Talking to various people you will find out that it could turn into a nightmare,
most people have some or other mishap with their plans, which flows over to their
building stage. By planning your dream house to the “nuts & bolts” level will surely get
your project off to a dream home implementation breeze.
Get started by thinking of a design you would like and the floor plan configuration that
best fits your needs. Make notes and sketches and cut pictures and take photos of all
the styles and looks you like. Be sure to think about room sizes that are best for you.
My name is Kobus Burger and I am a registered professional draughtsman: registered at SACAP (regno: D0215) and
registered at PIA (Regno: BU0719).
I have 17 years practical experience on various areas of the drawing industry and also Local Authority environment
processes. This makes me the ideal type of draughtsman, as I look at the practical areas of a plan and the practicality
thereof and ALWAYS keep the client’s dreams and requirements in consideration.
Drawing house plans actually happened out of necessity; I wanted to add an addition to my existing dwelling, but with
the costs involved to appoint an architect or even a draughtsman for this small addition to my house, was too much
for my limited budget. After some enquiries with various architects and draughtsman I came to the conclusion that my
extensions will have to wait until I get a bigger budget or an alternative to doing the work cheaper.
The alternative I decided on was to do the drafting myself and thus resulted in a extremely profitable business – KMI
DRAUGHTING.

Also known as garden sheds, are available in various sizes and may consist of
plain/standard or with a veranda. Availability in corrugated iron or wood is the main
factors for this classification.
Most suppliers have the same standardized sizes available.
You need to have plans for these structures, on your erf.

BOUNDARY WALLS
Boundary walls are most commonly used as a safety barrier, but we prefer the
boundary wall also to be an add-on feature for our dwelling/ house. There is a
wide range of types of boundary walls; from normal palisade to the one with
aesthetic features

LAPA’s
Lapas is available in various sizes and designs. Mostly the roof is thatched grass on
wooden poles. The modern day Lapa is constructed with brick and has concrete
tile roofing. The main use is for entertainment.
You need to have plans for these structures, on your erf.
NOTE: Thatched Lapas bigger than 20m2 and within 4m from the boundary would
most likely need a “rational fire design” to be done
