Easy Automation System

The Mlock EZone automation system is a unique

modular platform designed to allow effortless
automation of a wide range of machine tools that
makes lights out machining achievable fast and at
reasonable price with no automation skills needed.

Designed from the ground up for this task, EZone

takes full advantage of the new class of compact, high
payload robots and integrates a bespoke workholding
system, made up by the Mlock 80 automation ready
vise with our own compact griper and modular rack
system to allow the customer to tailor the overall
capabilities to his automation needs.

EZone | design philosophy

Unlike most systems on the market today , we started the design of

the EZone from the ground up, with no ties to outside products or
legacy systems and the intention to create a simple, versatile and
straightforward solution. For that we had to balance some opposing
requirements, trying to preserve as much of the available robot
payload for the part, we needed a workholding system with low
weight and compact dimensions but high rigidity and a larger
clamping range. Easy handling of variation in workholding needs
with no impact on the automation process was needed, alongside a
gripper system that is light, compact and reliable on the long term.

We believe we have achieved that by developing our Mlock 80 AT

automation ready vise that is available with 2 types of lengths, 4" or
6" , in centric or dual station format and features a wide selection of
jaws , from 1" to 4" wide with different gipping technologies. The
system also allows the use of user design fixtures and pallets that
can easily interchange with the Mlock 80 AT for maximum
manufacturing flexibility.

EZone | system overview

The EZone rack system was design to allow the customer to

maximize the system performance based on run time and part
size. Having enough parts ready to keep the machine running
unattended for as long as possible while maximizing the system
footprint and machine accessibility where our design criterias.

The Omron TM14 robot is the workhorse of the EZone system,

with a heavy total payload compared to it's compact frame, it
allows the system a maximum part weight of 8 kg to be clapped in
the largest vise available , the Mlock 80 AT | 150 .

With a total system footprint 1 m2 , a choice of 24 | 32| 40

station , front or sideload capabilities for a wide range of
machine setups, without compromising machine access , plus
the best price in the industry today , the Mlock EZone system
stands in a category of its own.

The EZone was design from the start to integrate with a wide
range of compact and medium size machining centers. The usual
candidates for high productivity machine tending , the 5 axis
centers like the UMC 750 gen.1 & gen.2 , UMC 500 , VF2TR and
TRT equipped VF1 | VF2 | DM1 | DM2 are well supported by the
AIM.1 together with more basic 3/4 axis setups.

The software integration is seamless and there is no programing

or other special skills required from the operator. The system itself
has been developed with a serious amount of situation awareness
to allow its operators to focus on the most important task , keeping
the EZone full with raw parts.
