days. He realizes that he has lost the innocence of childhood. Actually
the poet misses his childhood very much. He tries to find out the time
when he had lost his childhood. That is why, the poet says that his
childhood had gone to ‘some forgotten place’.

Ans: The poet Markus Natten wants to present the idea that the
childhood is full of innocence. Innocence exists on the face of an infant.
When the poet grows up, he begins to lose his innocence of childhood.
He gradually becomes a rational being who can think of his own. He
possesses the qualities of an adult such as hypocrisy. He can
understand his own capability and make decisions by himself. As a
result, he gradually loses his innocence of childhood. The poet sees his
childhood on the face of an infant which is actually his own image as a
childhood. That is why, the poet says that his childhood is hidden in an
infant’s face.
