immune blood disorder that is characterized by a decreased platelet count

• Disease Process
- the immune system is stimulated to attack the body’s platelets  impared platelet
production  platelet deficiency  delayed blood clotting)

• Predisposing Factors

2. Bone marrow diseases
3. Cancer treatment
4. Enlarged spleen
• Precipitating Factors

2. Exposure to toxic chemicals
3. HIV
4. Antibiotics
5. Infection
• Signs and Symptoms

2. Risk for injury related to abnormal blood profile.
3. Risk for ineffective protection related to altered kinesthetic perception.
4. Risk for infection related to suppression of the immune system by steroids.
