Chapter 6: The Heat Ray on the Chobham Road

The narrator lays out some theories about how the heat ray works: he suggests that the heat must be
created in an insulated chamber and then projected through a mirror-like object, capable of
concentrating the heat and flame, but he has no way of checking. his theory. What is clear is that the
weapon uses heat to destroy its targets, and that its power is devastating.

Chapter 7: How I Got Home

The narrator flees from the Martians and their heat ray until he collapses from exhaustion. When he
recovers, he wonders if everything he seems to have experienced was real. On the way home he meets
other people, but they all seem to be going about their daily business and make no mention of the
Martians. When he tries to ask the villagers for news, they laugh sarcastically finally When he got home
he told his wife everything, leaving her impressed by his story.

Chapter 8: Friday night

Despite the deaths caused by the heat ray and the news about the mysterious cylinders that continue to
fall on Earth, life continues normally in the interior of England. Henderson's telegram reaches London,
but his editors never publish it because they cannot reach him for further news, as Henderson has been
killed in the attack on the station.

Although there are moments of excitement and anxiety, in general everyone continues with their
routines. A distant hammering sounds from the well, but the power of the heat ray discourages any
