ABSTRACT
Indonesia is one of the countries that has a very high level of biodiversity and cultural diversity. One area in Indonesia
that reflect this is the City of Cirebon. Cirebon City has one of the traditional cultures that combines the biodiversity
and cultural diversity that exist in this city. One of the traditional cultures that still exist today is the ritual of panjang
jimat ceremony at the Kasepuhan Palace, Cirebon. Ritual of panjang jimat is one of the ancient traditions that is
carried out every year on the night of 12 Rabiul Awwal to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The purpose of this research is to identify various kinds of plants and their symbolic meaning used in the ritual of
panjang jimat ceremony. Data used in this research is a combination of primary data and secondary data. The results of
this research indicate that the ritual of panjang jimat ceremony uses a variety of materials plant. There are 17 plants
used in this ceremony including Oryza sativa, Cocos nucifera, Rosa sp., Musa paradisiaca, Magnolia alba, Curcuma
longa, Syzygium aromaticum, Zingiber officinale, Cinnamomum verum, Jasminum sambac, Styrax japonica, Cananga
odorata, Citrus sp., Bambusa sp., Arenga pinnata, Salacca zalacca, and Malus sp..
