Despite our love-hate relationship with it, we admire the Himalayan winter far more than the summer,
purely for its stark beauty. Join us this winter as we take you to the quaint little village of Sethan, your
picture perfect escape from civilization.
Perched at about 2700 meters above sea level and almost an hour’s drive from the bustling town of
Manali, Sethan in winters is an ideal place for snow activities like Snowboarding, Snow trekking and
Snowshoeing, among others. The village inhabited by the migrants of adjoining Lahaul and Spiti district is
mainly of Buddhist origin. During peak winters most of the locals tend to move to the lower altitude
towns of Kullu valley leaving Sethan a beautifully deserted village, before moving back in summer again.
In the winters the village offers crystal clear panoramic views of the towering Dhauladhar and Pir-panjal
ranges while itself covered in the blanket of snow.
A winter paradise in a fairyland, Sethan is also considered to be one of the best places in Indian Himalayas
to try Backcountry Snowboarding.
Looking for a place to unwind yourself this season and yet not lose the warmth of your home, stay with us
this winter in Sethan at “The Kathkuni Dorm”, a seventy year old wooden architecture run by us for a cozy
warm stay during the coldest of days. A single huge traditional mud room with very basic amenities such as
a traditional “Bukhari” to heat up the room, comfortable mattress and a clean hygienic sleeping bag for a
goodnight’s sleep and basic Indian food served with all the love by our team. Stay like locals with locals in
this century old wooden setup.

DAY TRIP TO SETHAN [with Snowboarding]:
Checkout of your hotel and we drive from Manali to Sethan in our 4-wheel drive vehicles. It takes a
little more than an hour to reach the village. We straightaway drive and then hike up to the available
slope and gear up for our Snowboarding lessons. It’s an experiential session for absolute beginners
which will aim to get you sliding down the slope with learning of basic movements such as gearing
and strapping in, skating, gliding, turning and stopping.
In case one is interested in Snowshoeing rather than snowboarding, the same can be arranged too
around the snowy forest trails of Sethan.

A NIGHT’S STAY AT “THE KATHKUNI DORM”, SETHAN:
In the morning after a sumptuous breakfast we drive from Manali to Sethan in our 4-wheel drive
vehicles. It takes a little more than an hour to reach the village. We straightaway drive and hike up to
the available slope and gear up for our Snowboarding lessons. It’s an experiential session for absolute
beginners which will aim to get you sliding down the slope with learning of basic movements such as

In case one is interested in Snowshoeing rather than snowboarding, the same can be arranged too

By evening, we move into our Rustic, warm and cozy “Kathkuni Dorm”, a 70-year old structure built in the
local Kathkuni style. Sit beside the “Bukhari” and sip on some hot tea/coffee or soup. After a heartfelt
dinner we’ll provide you with your sleeping bags and you can choose any of the corners of the room to
sleep. If interested in having a private room of your own, that can be arranged too in any of the nearby
guest houses but for an extra expense (Ask for this).
Wake up the next morning to cool and crispy winter air of Sethan and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast.
After breakfast we hop in our vehicle and drive back straight to Manali. Your tour ends here.
