1. What gift did the March sisters receive for Christmas? What
was their reaction?
Ans: Beth felt well enough to sit by the window, wrapped in the
bright red shawl Mother had gifted her. Jo hugged the storybook
which she had always wanted, and waited for a chance to read it.
Amy received the framed picture from her mother. Meg got her first
silk dress from Mr Lawrence.
2. What was the special gift that the family received? How did the
family react?
Ans: When Christmas Day came, it brought great joy for the March
Family. Mr March had written that he would soon be with them.
When Mr March entered his house he became invisible in the
embrace of his loving daughters and his wife. Jo almost fainted with
joy and clung to Laurie for support. Amy tripped over a stool and
didn't even bother to get up. She hugged her father's legs and wept.
Beth flew straight into her father's arms; joy gave strength to her
wobbly legs.
3. Why were Mr and Mrs March filled with gratitude and how did
each one express it?
Ans: Mr and Mrs March were filled with gratitude because they had
been through a lot of troubles. Mr March praised his daughters for
supporting their mother. Mrs March was also full of joy and didn't
feel the need to say anything at all.

reasons for your choice.
Ans: The oldest March sister Meg is responsible and kind.
Jo is quick tempered and impatient.
Beth is very quiet and virtuous.
Amy is artistic and kind hearted.
