JOURNAL 7
On 14th day of November, our professor discussed about fundamental rights including
the right to life and liberty, freedom from discrimination, right to pursue happiness, etc.
He also tackled about the six categories of human rights including dignity and justice,
development, environment, culture, gender and participation. For the remaining time of
our class, he discussed about the difference between Human Rights and Civil Rights.
I've learned that Human Rights are universal, which means that everyone is born with
and possesses the same rights, regardless of where they live, their gender or race, or
their religious, cultural or ethnic background. On the other hand, Civil Rights refer to the
one that obtains by being a legal member of a certain political state. It is very important
to become aware about the rights we have as citizens of our country, because as long
as we know our rights, no one can take advantage from us in a sense that it serves as
protection to our dignity as a human being.
